Shaker 500 CD changer problem

I have a2006 GT equipped with a Shaker 500 audio system. Generally, it's performed as expected. However, intermittently the CD player hangs up and won't play the disk, nor can I eject it. usually I can coax the disk out after a day or so, but recently, it's gotten stuck for about a week. To make matters worse, apparently the unit continues trying to eject the disk, because the battery has completely run down 2 days in a row. On jump starting the engine, I was able to extract the disks, and the battery is holding a charge, but is this a short on the unit, a peculiarity or what? As it is, I'm hesitant to try to play CDs in this car. Thanks.

Replace it with an after market player if you put the stock back in it will go bad again. So after market is the best for ford unless you plan on getting rid of it in the next couple of years. Ford makes the best engines but when it comes to stereos, sync, or other luxury items their gawd awful. Mainly because they let Microsoft choose everything that goes in the cabin for about the last 10 to 12 years.
