You'll have the V6 hood without the plastic insert in it. Just look around at any 99-02 V6 and that's what your hood will look like.

I lived there a few months ago...nice little town, miss it sometimes. Born in Greenville, lived in Starkville for 4 years then Meridian for 3 months, now Jackson for the last 6 or so months.

What you'll need when you pull the hoodscoop off is the little plastic insert from the V6 cars. I'd either pull this from a junkyard or find someone to sell the hoodscoop to (not a hard thing to do) and tell them you want the plastic insert when you give them the hoodscoop. It should be painted underneath, the only problem you're gonna run into is the holes left by the hoodscoop, is has 8 bolts and 2 alignment pins in it leaving you a total of 10 holes to fill in...not hard to do on fiberglass, just don't want you running into something unexpected.

Re: thinking of going spoilerless

Although the thread is pretty cold I did take some action on it. When I said I was going wingless and scoopless, I did. Here's the result with a comparison picture of the car with wing and scoop.

99-04's look decent spoilerless but 94-98's don't.

I like spoilers myself, but if I had to take it off on a 99+ I could live with it. :dunno:

Wingless !!!! Yes !!!!!!!!!!! You might want to get some tint for the top of the 3rd brake light or it will fade in the sun

i like the no spoiler look but i am a fan of the s281 spoiler, the cobra spoiler would be too much work.

Hey Spark Plug,
I'd sure like to have a bigger copy of your avatar. That's way too cool! My pacemaker opened garage doors in a three block radius when I saw that one!

o and personally i think the no spoiler look is really set off with a hood. something like a smooth cowl, the cobra r hood or something like that.

its a cool idea but i strongly reccommend not doing this, there really isnt amatrial out there that actually holds up to vibration when molding fiberglass to urethane.they all claim to but when i was working at a custom paint shop, i tried all of them when installing bodykits and they seldom held up.

Re: thinking of going spoilerless

, just tryin to save you the dissapointment, i have had numerous bodykits crack along the seam and tried materials that are "guaranteed", and they never work either.they dont look bad just bolted on.

Re: thinking of going spoilerless

The problem with it just being bolted on is the scoop tore along the seam where the bolt goes through the hood. So either molded or a new hood scoop. Think ill go with the new hod scoop should save me some money.

Re: thinking of going spoilerless

I was torn between going with a VERY low rise cowl or Cobra hood instead of the "six cylinder" hood. Also considered a plain flat hood for the 02 I found. BTW, it seems to me that hoods have increased in price about 50% + since 2002.

If the stock hood scoop had been functional I'd have been tempted to keep it. But, alas, it was just a Mineral Grey wart sitting on top of the hood. Had to freeze that bad boy off!

Does anyone know if there is a billet grill available for the "six-cylinder" hood honeycomb grill?

One more question while we're on the subject of appearances. My '92 GT has the silver Cobra R's. Anyone have an opinion on how it looks if I powder coat them black with a red stripe on the lip? Change it or leave it alone?

Its the stupid idea for a hood scoop ive ever seen. Yeah lets bolt it on and make it out of flexible materials. Thats a brilliant idea.

so the relationship between your windshield and hood has been an ongoing one. huh? not the first time they've met.

While on the topic of stripping off parts, my boy GT and I were wondering...has anyone removed the side scoops from your 99-04 Mustang? Is there a big hole or just bolt holes under there?
