HELP!!!! new stereo installation for 2000 mustang

I am installing my JVC stereo.

I got a few problems. Hope someone here could helps me.

1. how to remove the small thing see the following pic

2. I got only 4 pin wired.
Ground (black), ignition, illumination, and battery. is this correct?

3. I found 2 blocks of black small box. One has 8 wire holes and one has 6 wire holes. I guess the 8-hole one is for sound. right? Do I need the 6-hole small box?

4. for the 8-hole small box, is this deep enough? not sure. seems plenty of room outside of the adapter. And I don't get any sound out from speakers. not sure what's wrong here?

Thank you for your time.

1) it's just a ground I don't exactly remember how I got mine off but it should just pull off. Either that or there should
Be a tab on it that lifts up

2)everything seems correct

3)the 8 pin should be the rear deck speakers and the 6pin should be the door speakers

4)I wanna say it should click into place. For the RCAs do you have white on bottom and red in top (or vice versa) or is it white on one side red on the other?

Re: HELP!!!! new stereo installation for 2000 mustang

Hi JDF, Thank you so much.

for 1. it's really really tight. I am just wondering if the whole black thing come off the white metal? or some back stuck with metal, some other thing come off from the black box??

for 3. I bought the adapter. It only comes with the 8-pin one. In this case I still need 6pin one? The problems is even now the rear deck speaker is still now working. Or I have to get both 8pin and 6pin together then the whole speaker system works? I want to test 8pin if it works. Then I could get another 6pin one.

And also, for 8pin, it comes with 4 aux. inputs. Please see the picture. How do I use those. I only have 4 input on my new stereo. Does the 6pin adapter come with 4 inputs as well?

for 4. I have 2 whites on one side and 2 reds on the other side. how do I use this for my 8pin adapter? does 8pin work itself?

1) it's an amplifier ground. Sadly I dont remember how I got mine off. I believe it involved a lot of tugging and swearing.

3) I have yet to find a 6 pin adaptor. However a guy on here(robertoonizer?? Something like that) drew a diagram as a way to bypass the door amplifiers. I'll attach a picture.

4) put the purple input where the white input is. The purple and green inputs are for the tweeters and the white and gray are for the rear speakers. I may be wrong but red means left side sound and white means right side sound.

Re: HELP!!!! new stereo installation for 2000 mustang

1) for the new Stereo, do I even need the black amplifier ground??

3) the picture seems a lot extra work with speakers. I might just try the 8 pin first and then see what's going on.

4) I will try your way first. and let you know tomorrow. so much pain right now.

thank you.

1) Honestly I don't think so.

3)I haven't done it myself but I need more volume so I'm doing it soon.

4) works for me

And you're very welcome.

Did it go all the way in and click? I think that's what mine did. Have you tried pulling it out and turning it around?

Re: HELP!!!! new stereo installation for 2000 mustang

I tried push really hard, i think that is the deepest I can go.

no you can't turn it around because that won't. the power supply wiring adaptor works. Now I am not sure if it's the problem of the wire or the problem of the new JVC radio......

how could I test it??

I guess I should ask, what are you trying to listen to: radio, auxiliary, etc

Is your antenna plugged in? And also does your radio have an instruction guide? Also check your fuses, see of any are blown

Re: HELP!!!! new stereo installation for 2000 mustang

yea. the antenna was plugged in. w/o antenna, I couldn't search frequencies.

There is only one fuse in the radio. it's ok. if its not, the lights or other functions shouldn't work, right?

The instruction guide confused me. basically, on the instruction.
please see the pictures.

Ok swap the green and purple inputs with the gray and white. Gray and white are for the rears I think so let's try that

Re: HELP!!!! new stereo installation for 2000 mustang

yea. i get the amp ground off.

The thing is I tested everything on my factory stereo again. It works simultaneously. Every time I plugged in the cable, the sound from the factory stereo came out right away.

thank you JDF

That's definitely the right adaptor kit. Have you tried to see what other wires you could connect? Cause you said you have power, ground, illumination, and one other correct?

Alright so I took a look at my wiring diagrams for my stereo and adaptor kit. On the adaptor side there is a blue/white wire that is labeled amp turn-on. On the stereo side (I have a Sony DSX100) it has a wire labeled AMP REM (or amp turn-on) for yours I would assume that your amp+ wire is the amp power/turn-on. Try connecting that with the blue/white from the adaptor kit
