Shelby Hood Pins

What do you guys think about these? They look like a really nice design. Of course I would only use the ones without the shelby logo on them.

Like i told you yesterday....which should have been all the opinion you needed ... I think they would add some character to your car. I didn't realize yesterday that they have the cables...but, you could also look for the ones that are cable-less and the pin snap locks instead.

You could easily take the cables off, but i kinda like the old school muscle car look with the cables on...

Re: Shelby Hood Pins

I was also thinking about getting the bigger gt500 cobra emblems since they are satin and not chrome and would match my new wheels better. Just cant decided if i want the ones with black paint or the "red stripe" edition ones with the red paint in them.

^^^ Do they come with a free set of chopsticks too? Or maybe some duck sauce?

The cables are fine, it is just a matter of them smacking the paint all the time that bothers me.

Re: Shelby Hood Pins

you got to have the cables

are far as them hitting the paint the pins on the chevelle the cables are rubber coated and I spin the pin one turn and that holds the cable away from the paint

But does it stay away at high speed? It isn't normal driving I would be concerned about...it would be the high speed jaunts applying the extra pressure on the cables causing them to whap against the paint.

Nice delete.

And... you have no sense of adventure.

Why are you worried about your hood flying up? it is the stock hood right? Or are you planning on some super high speed runs?

I dont like them... they look out of place and if your car doesnt warrent them (stock hood) they are just for flash.

You have a good point, i guess it's kinda like installing a driveshaft safety loop, do you really need it? maybe not, but the first time the driveshaft comes apart and you loose a leg you will wish you spent the $100 to have one installed. I have had a hood fly up on me a 50mph and i can tell you if there would have been anykind of traffic around i would had a collision for sure. But to each his own I guess! (and yes it was a stock hood, and no it wasnt on my cobra)

Re: Shelby Hood Pins

Yes, after my first attemp of beating the land speed record in my former mustang and the hood flying up at 50mph, I decided that it was time to install some hood pins. And to think i was so close to beating the record!

Well, at least you won't have to worry about beating any records in this car...pins or no pins.

Re: Shelby Hood Pins

How many have done it already? I know of 1 so far...and rumor has it, it was a second vs third gear race...so we definitely need to line up again.

And if David is still claiming he beat me...then I will just have to bust his *** again...and this time power shift.

Re: Shelby Hood Pins

I have been looking everywhere for black hood pins... does anyone know where I can find some?
what do you guys think looks better, the ones with or without the cables?
Its not something I would have normally considered putting on my car but my hood seems to be lifting more and more at high speeds, the last thing I want is for it to fly open!

yeah, it looks good. I might just install some on mine. I'm paranoid about my hood popping up anyway.

Re: Shelby Hood Pins

I've had the hood(STOCK) repainted 3 times because the stock scoop was digging into the paint on the corners of the scoop. I've pulled over many times because I thought the hood was unlatched. The stops where adjusted as far as possible without holding the hood up to far so my fix to both problems was hood pins. I bought the Shelby pins without the Shelby & then had the bases powder coated black. Solved all my problems.

Those look nice man! I also went without the shelby name I like the black, it would have went good with the white.

do you find that the lanyards whip around? I just installed mine this weekend and haven't even driven it with them on yet.

Re: Shelby Hood Pins

Mine don't because I drilled a hole in the upper corner of each side of the grille to run them through. I found their instructions about where to run them sucked. I also filled the holes with black silicone after they where run so they would always stay in the same place.
