New sound system

Hey everyone. This is my first post on this site although I have been following it for a while now.

I have a 2009 V6 mustang with the basic sound system and I'm looking to upgrade. I feel pretty comfortable working on my car and pretty knowledgeable on the vehicle itself however I know very little about sound and audio systems which is why I'm posting.

The sound system in my car is one of the things im willing to spend a pretty good chunk of change on since it is used almost every time I get in the vehicle my ideal price range is under $1000 but I have heard sounds systems going for much more than that.

I listen to a large variety of music ranging from rock to rap and thanks to living in the city of Atlanta, many of my passengers request dub-step.

I'm not looking for the loudest system but the best quality I want to be able to hear every note as if it was live not to simply throw a sub in the trunk and make it so I can't even hear the music.

Any advice would be great as I said before I feel pretty comfortable with the actual install, I just have no idea what the various brands sound like or how to find a happy balance between base and sound.

Thanks!

Re: New sound system

Man. Ill tell ya, I have 2 Rockford Fosgate 12" subs with 4 Hertz Speakers, and I hear Everything AND get a Great amount of bass. I am Also running only 300 watts to the subs and running a 4 channel to only 2 6x9 Hertz speakers and i can hear every word. i still have yet to hook up the other speakers! I will never use any other brands besides Rockford Fosgate for Subwoofers and Hertz for the speakers. they are Phenomenal and i have won multiple contests with them

Kicker is also a really good setup. You can get their comp 12"s for about 120$ plus a kicker zx 300.1 amp for around 200$ that pushes them perfectly. I just put this in my 09 about 4 days ago and it gets loud if you want and it hits anything I throw at it.

Re: New sound system

you can get good quality Pioneer speakers, Kicker speakers, and pretty much most speakers.. I would spend the majority of your money on NICE speakers to get Great sounds and then move up in subs depending on how much bass you want. Oh and run your speakers to a 4 channel amp. it makes a world of difference running power from a separate powerful amp instead of a deck amp

Just beware that if there is a defect the manufacturer will not refund your money. A guy i work with just bought a alpine head unit off amazon and found out the head unit was defective. He called alpine and they refused to do anything with it because he bought it off amazon! They told him since he bought it off amazon that they wouldnt warranty it but they would fix on his dime!

How can they do that unless your buying used / refurbished equipment?
