7" touchscreen install

I'm looking at installing a 7" touch screen into my dash and also a backup camera. The unit I have picked out (haven't bought it yet) is the Kenwood 9990hd. comes with garmin gps installed. the price is high but worth it IMO. Ive gotten a quote from a local stereo company. they quoted me about $2500 for the unit, the dash kit, all the necessary plug-ins and a semi-cheap license late back-up camera. any suggestions on what to get besides what I have here?

With that price hes gonna make about$500-$700 off of u , if was were you I would go to best buy and buy the dash kit myself for $20 there and u get both kits for that price, one for a screen stereo and the other for a regular small stereo. And I would also buy the wiring kit that goes in the back which is another $10

Re: 7" touchscreen install

$2500 is a huge pricetag... Idk what all that unit does but I hope it makes gold jewelery.

I kid... I'm sure it's worth it since it seems like you've been shopping around a bit.

I like my Pioneer AVH3300BT. It's nice. Excuse the different colored interiors... It was yellow now it's black/red pearl to match the color swap of my car.. Lol.

I got a question for you, I installed a screen stereo myself, what happens if you don't connect the black wire to anything coming from the adapter if the stereo

Re: 7" touchscreen install

@Tyler: Go with the Scosche kit, we use them, and they are super nice, factory fit and finish, and so far, the 10+ Mustangs are still new enough that it matches extremely well, colorwise.

Another thing, that 2500.00 price tag is a bit high, i sat and did the math, (We're a Kenwood dealer as well). That's a bit high. The Head Unit is on Crutchfield for 1299.99...decent lic plate b/u cam: 80 bucks, dash kit 300ish, harness and antenna adapter 100 bucks. So they are charging almost 800 bucks for installation....yeah, find another route sir. Or start driving to Orlando!!

If its a black and orange wire then it's the ground wire.

If it is in the radio harness, the black wire is the ground. You should connect this. The radio will sometimes still play without the actual wire being connected, because the antenna being plugged in will ground the radio. However, without a secure true ground, the radio will probably not output full power, and could very well live a much shorter life.

Re: 7" touchscreen install

The prices I quoted are retail. I saw you had that for sale on a another thread The metra 99-5823CH, which is what you have pictured there, we retail at 179.99. The Scosche kit, which is a nicer kit with a color touchscreen HVAC control unit is 299.99 at retail. Which also happens to be the kit that the poster himself had stated that he'd rather have.

By the way, these look so much better than the pics, this is against my dirty back-shop door and with a cellular phone. The pics on our fb page look better, I also have them for pretty much any car, plus a bunch of other designs. They are designed to go in the bottom of the door, so that when the door is opened, it casts the lighted image on the ground. But I use them in a ton of applications. Blinking on the front windshield for the alarm indicator, projected onto the underside of hoods and trunk lids, etc.

Re: 7" touchscreen install

The shop number is there on the page, I am here 10am-8pm Mon-Sat and 11-6 on Sundays. Eastern Time. So just call and ask for Aaron, and let me know that you're an ME member. I will make sure you get a great deal, and we use USPS flat rate shipping, so it's 6.00 minimum, the next tier is 11.00, then I think 20.00. So just depends.
