Lost quality

I have a 01 and just installed an Aline cde-122 and it sounds like the sound quality dropped, on the stock harness the was an amplifier wire and on the alpine there was not a wire fore that. Sounds like the bass is almost gone so I have to turn the bass up all the way for it to sort of be there. I don't have a Mach system either. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Might need a harness, for the extra plug and what not. Did you just now take out both decks?

In not sure, it's a completely stock system besides the speakers, but it just sounds weird, all my connections are good crimps
Does the stock set up have an amp?

It's possible it has a amp an is not a Mach system. If so just best to bypass the factory amp and power every thing from the head unit.

But remember if you still have factory speakers they are just as much garbage as the factory radio.

How would I bypass the amp? I have a wire that's says its for the amp but I just left it unhooked
And I have some aftermarket kicker speakers so I know they're a little better than stock

Look up ware the amp would be located in your car if you have it. Then buy a correct year amp bypass kit and follow the harnesses instructions.

If your referring to the blue wire in the vehicles harness adaptor you can look at the cars harness and see if one is pinned there. If it is hook it up to your radios amp turn on. And test it.

I don't think the base 99-04 Mustangs have the Mach 460 or shaker 1000 stereos. To find out if you do, pop your trunk and look above the back seats. Of you see speakers, it's not upgraded. If you were to have an upgraded stereo, there should be a big box up there. Also there are tweeters in the doors. What it sounds like to me is you need to tune your stereo..

I just re read the OP. double check your speaker polarity. If its reversed it's quite common to hear audio but no base.

Ill pull it apart and switch the wires and see if that helps, that's what you're saying by polarity right?

Yup. Did you use speaker harness at the speakers or just cut the factory plug? if you chopped the factory plug it could be the speakers hooked up backwards.

On the radio side it's not to hard to to double check on your whites, grays, greens, and purples. Make sure the stripe goes to stipe and the solid goes to solid (assuming your using a wiring harness and didn't chop the factory plug)
