Bought New Speakers

Hey all! Just ordered myself a pair of these:

Pioneer's "A-Series" speakers sparkle with aggressive styling and powerful sound. Pioneer reinforces its signature foamed IMPP woofer cone with high-strength Aramid fibers, allowing for increased power handling. A butyl rubber surround helps keep the bass response tight and punchy.

The 4-way TS-A6880R 6"x8" speaker delivers extraordinary detail and clarity with its balanced dome pearl polycarbon midrange, PET silver film dome tweeter, and PET silver film dome supertweeter. Grilles are not included factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Key Features:
3/8" PET silver film dome supertweeter
5/8" PET silver film dome tweeter
1-5/8" balanced dome PPC (Pearl PolyCarbon) midrange
Aramid fiber reinforced IMPP woofer with durable rubber surround
frequency response 30-30,000 Hz
recommended power range 2-50 watts RMS
peak power handling 240 watts
sensitivity 91 dB
top-mount depth 2-7/16"
1-year warranty

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I plan on buying another of the same pair soon, but I wanted to know, what would be better for now. Put them in the rear deck, or put them in the doors? I don't have a Mach sound system or anything, just stock, so anything will be better than what I have now lol. Just an FYI, I currently fade my sound to the rear a bit that way it doesn't sound as distorted when the volume is up louder (for the subs). What do you all think?

Not too shabby man, not top of the line, but still very nice. You'll notice a difference with them. If it was me I'd put those in the door and cut the bass out of them since you already have subs. I do this with my stock door speakers because I haven't replaced them yet. With the subs back there, you won't be able to hear the difference as much if your subs are decent. Just my opinion on this. But you should go ahead and replace your back decks soon too. Just to keep everything on the same level.

do like lowflyn said and put them up front. Does your cd player have a high pass crossover built into it? If not then you run the risk of putting to much bass into them.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure these were top of the line, as far as 4-ways and Pioneer because I couldn't find anything else that matched the same features as this one did. Anyways, they'll sure kick the *** out of my paper coned stock ones!!

So, you think I should put these in the door huh? Sounds good. Do you think I should keep the fader set to center then instead of slightly towards the rear like I have it now? Also, as far as my headunit, I bleieve it does have a high pass crossover, I'll double check that.

Since your rear deck speakers will be stock, I'd run more out of the door speakers. That's just me. When I'm showing off my set up I cut off my rear speakers completely because I don't want to have to buy new ones prematurely. Just something I do to keep from blowing too many speakers.

Alright man. So door speakers. And sorry for the newbish question, but how do I get the grill off to replace the speakers in the door? Thanks.

So should I just fade my speakers to the center now?

You're gonna have to take your whole door panel off I believe. That's how I've messed with my speakers. I don't know if the actual grill will come off but it was easier for me to do that.

Ok, not a problem. I just remembered, I think this is addressed in the Hayes manual. Just gotta pull it out. Either way, I have experience taking the door panels off, so that won't be a problem.

So, best benefit out of the front doors huh? Is that the recommend approach -- get the better speakers for the front than the ones in the rear? Or is it best to get the same speakers for both?

Thanks for the audio help.

So once again, put them in the front huh? lol I'm sooo impatient and excited... I can't wait to hear them - no more distorting speakers for me!! (except the ones i don't upgrade yet lol)

Well, they're in! Put them in tonight... and boy do they sound great! I can't wait to upgrade the rears as well. I set my fader to one bar away from full-front. Any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

My sony headunit says 52W by 4. Is this similar to the 100w amp your talking about, but just with 48w more?

52x4 is peak power. Your rms power is what matters. Your rms is around 20-22 probably

get a amp that is 50x4 rms(400w amp)

Oh wow, ok, I thought the 52x4 was RMS because my new speakers are like 50 RMS and 240 peak, so I was like.. hmm... 50 RMS, that's good, my headunit says 52. But aparently I'm wrong lol.

What type of amp exactly do I get? Something similar to my amp for my subs, or is this a different type of amp that's built in to the headunit or something? Also, would I have to rewire anything that goes into the speakers?

Sorry for my audio newbishness, I had my original system installed for me, so this was my first attempt at shopping and doing it by myself.

He is referring to an amp similar to your sub amp. Just get crossovers so you cut out the deep bass so your speakers don't screw up. Basically it's just like your subs, just not running bass through your speakers, but amping everything else
