Location of Amp in a 96 gt 'VERT??

Looking for the location of the factory amp in a 96 GT premium 'vert. I'm the 2d owner. First owner put a crappy head unit and sub in the car. Before I start taking the dash apart I want to know if the car came with a standard no-amp radio or a premium amplified radio. (I have a stock radio and cd from a '99 that I want to put in this car.) Thanks

It's a '96 GT Premium - Def. not with a Mach system. I think the car originally had just a stock AM/FM/cassette. The '99 system I want to use has a separate radio unit and a separate cd player that would normally be installed below the radio.

Im thinking the amp was in the deck itself. I think mach 460 is the only that had external amps.

Also not sure the 99 would connect. May work if hard wired. Think connections are different. I may be wrong
