Audio upgrades

Called Crutchfield today to find that they don't carry speakers that would be direct replacements to my '07. Has anyone had better luck?

I had a shaker 500 system of which I replaced the head unit with a kenwood, but the speakers are the same.

I'm wondering if I can some more oomph without having to drill or buy an amp. Any ideas? Thanks!

Do you have a budget what's the reason you don't want an amp?

No budget, id just prefer not losing trunk space. I DO realize however, I will probably need to get one as the sound starts getting all crackly when close to max.

I guess I'm just looking for options.

Why not get a custom box to make the most of the space in the truck that's what I did

Probably not much.. Unfortunately. I have the Mach 1000 system in my trunk and don't have much room left at all.

That sucks. Couldn't I just upgrade the speakers somehow? Or is getting an amp basically the only option?

Yeah you could probably upgrade the speakers. Wouldn't sound as nice but it's better than what you have now.

Thanks for the info. Have you upgraded your speakers? Do you know which ones would be the best?

Just go to an auto store, like cart toys, or sound on wheels. Depending on where you live that's what we have here in Colorado. Just look for a place like that, that does audio stuff for cars and they will have speakers that you can buy and have replaced to help the sound.

Can I see a picture of how the Mach 1000 system looks in your trunk?

I have alpine e12's also, plus a 421D Thunder amp. But I bought the car which already had the Mach 1000 system, so now I have 2 bass systems. Good thing my car had the Mach system, cause the alpine don't fit in the small trunk of the mustang:/

I just ordered these Pioneer TS-D6802R 6x8 2-way speakers rated 260 watt for both the front doors and back shelf I found a good write up a few months back on a different fourm were the OP replaced his stock speakers with these. He said they were an easy fit and made a major improvement over the stock speakers you mite want to check these out
