Touchscreen on 02

So I bought a touchscreen unit for my car and thought, maybe I could install it myself. If worse comes to worse, I have a friend who can hook it up for me. Any tips? It's an 02 v6 with the factory radio and harness.

It's pretty simple I installed my jvc double din. You will need the mounting hardware and a wiring harness

Any local audio shop or best buy with a install bay will have the kit and harness all you do is unplug the factory one match the colors on the harness crimp or solder do not twist and tape and you pop it all back together. It is quite easy.

What kit would I need? I was going to crimp wires directly but I can't be sure of any of the diagrams I find online. I'm sticking to buying the harness instead. And is this a problem? It won't fit haha

It needs a dash kit! And for the love of god don't cut the factory harness off! Buy the parts and it will pop right in!

Heck no! No cutting for me hahah previous owner did that to my other stang and it's a pain to work with! I took the outer metal skin off the unit. It won't affect it right? It just won't fit into the radio bezel with it on and now it fits fine. What dash kit should I get? I'm kinda stumped on that. Just find one that would fit my ford harness?

That cage is for mounting in a RV or something you would have to cut a hole for. The kit will hold the radio it is a metra 95-5026 the harness is a metra 70-1771 for a non amped ford and a metra 70-5519 for a amped radio. Any radio shop or install bay will have the parts and can look them up to double check. But I found that info on metra online.

You don't slide the radio through the plastic trim.. It Mounts into the slot on the car then the trim fits over it

There's a black trim that goes around the screen itself and it will not fit if I put the bezel on. But I'll figure it out after I get my dash kit and harness

The dash kit will have the trim ring that will fill up any empty space between the deck and your cars trim.

Okay so I'm sure this isn't the right harness. I was told they were sure because it says all ford '85-'04. Idiots. Going to have to wait till tomorrow to get the right harness or just order it online

Can't believe I found the harness at autozone! Fits perfect and got it connected. All I need now is the dash kit and I'm set! I fell in love with it
