pulling out the 460

So after 13+ years, I want to rip the mach 460 outta my 2000 GT. I already have an after market Sony head unit and subwoofer, but I'm looking to upgrade the speakers. Ideally from my research I'd like to get four 5x7 / 6x8 3 way speakers. I'm not looking for top quality sound, but something a notch higher than the 460 (which we all know isn't really that great to begin with)

So far I was leaning towards Kickers, Sony (since I already have a sony headunit and sub), or even Pioneers for the price. I'm looking to spend 50-70 bucks a pair. I wanted to bounce it off you guys, and see if you have a specific brand, or suggestions you could share?

Thanks I'm advance for your help!

I would head to the local car audio shop and take a listen to some things. I like infinity and Polk for full range sound and alpine for mids and highs when using a sub. But speakers are very subjective what I like to hear may not be what you like to. So take a listen to what's out there and go with what you like the sound of.

Are you getting component speakers ? I think those are cool we had them in our mini van lol nice to have highs off the tweeter separately. Btw I like Kenwood(jvc) and pioneer when it comes to car audio

I have had Infinity Kappa's in my last two cars and I have been very happy with them. They are a nice compromise of price and quality.

Just an update, I was able to listen to quite a few, and ended up getting some Kicker 6x8's. I haven't installed them yet, but I will try by next weekend.

Installed the speakers tonight, and hooked up my 10" sub in the trunk. After tweaking the sound a bit, it sounds great, and definitely hits harder than stock.

The kicker (no pun intended) is, I only installed two speakers in the doors. Maybe down the road ill put two more I'm the rear, but its really not necessary in small cars. Thanks guys for all your input!
