Help pick a subwoofer

Well i have decided to get rid of the 460.

I am ready to install a new dd nav/dvd unit.
While i am at it i would like to add some decent bass.
Was looking for two 12s but that would remove access to my spare tire.

So ive looked into shallow mount subwoofers. Does anyone have experience with them?
I am looking for a nice budget kit. Right now i am looking at a pioneer sw3001s2 sub.
Its rated at 800 peak and 400rms. I have a kicker dx500.1 amp that delivers 500rms.

Is the pioneer good? How are the shallow mounts? Do they provide deep bass?
It is also in a sealed enclosure so i know it wont be as boomy as a ported box.
Just want something that you can feel in the chest everytime it hits.

Thoughts/suggestions?

I haven't had experience with them but its probably a decent subwoofer. It has decent ratings on sonic electronix(I shop here). however the box has a lot to do with it. do you plan to build a custom box or buy one?

It will come with a 1.0 cf sealed enclosure which is what is recommended for the sub.
Yes for my budget pioneer seems to fit the bill and it matches my pioneer head unit. Just dont have any experience with pioneer subs and shallow mounts..

i would personally go with a JL Audio 12". and a single one at that. ive had pioneer, which was ok. i currently have two kickers on a kicker zx1000.1 amp which are awesome but its almost too much and it takes up too much space. owner of the audio shop near me says JLs are leaps and bounds better. ive heard a few of their 8s which proved his point. if i redo my system, im going with a single JL 12 and keeping my amp.

plus JLs come with custom hide-away/stealth boxes specific to your vehicle

Bigger isn't always better. Remember that. I have a 600rms Alpine Type R 10" that hits harder than a lot of people's dual 12" sub setups. And I still have 2/3 of my trunk free space.

Well looks like i am going to with an entry level kicker comps.
Dual DC 12s nothing extreme just want some decent bass.

I dont think the box will fit. If it doesnt ill probably do a rear seat delete and work something out.

I just put a 10" Alpine and it is absolutely perfect. Have lots of trunk space still and it hits hard, it won't shake the pavement but it's the perfect amount of bass.

JL W7 single 10" sub. All you will ever need and will hit harder/sound better than the majority of the dual 12 or 15" subs. I had a set of dual 12s in a full size box in my 95 that a buddy put together for me and it sounded pretty good but nowhere near as good as his single W7 did.
