Shaker 500 iPod connector question

I just bought a 2005 mustang yesterday and it came with a shaker 500 system with a iPod connector in the arm rest. When I plug my iPhone 4S running iOS 7 and I try to hit aux on the radio it says that nothing is connected. Sometimes on my phone it says this accessory is not supported? But it charges it ok. Is there a physical aux input that I'm missing where I could still plug in the phone with or not?

Got any 30pin apple devices you could try with it? It could be that its a aftermarket unit that tricks your factory radio into thinking it's seeing a sat or a cd changer signal. I would try to figure out what brand it is and google a user manual for it.

Yes I got a iPod nano, that's what I may do because I believe it's a aftermarket one because on the connector it says iConnect

It is a aftermarket. Jump on Google and see what you can find about I connect. It may not use the AUX button to play back, like I said it might use the am fm button a few times or the CD button a few times.

iSteven, if it is an 05 then the aux button does nothing, The Aux button would not do anything till 2007 or 2008. The iPod connector that someone has hidden in your center console is most likely the type where you have to tune the radio to a certain station. My 05 had a Sirius Satellite radio that was connected that way. It's now in a box in the garage.

Well I finally got a chance to hook up my 1st gen nano up and it said the Same thing, so maybe I need to take it apart and find were the aftermarket unit is, maybe that will be a summer job because it's too cold here to be working outside. Thanks for everyone's help.

Also is there a major difference between a shaker 500 and a shaker 1000?

iSteven, not really. The major difference between the Shaker 500 and Shaker 1000 is that the 1000 has a sub box with dual amps and subs in the trunk on the passenger side behind the taillight. The harness for it is there in our Shaker 500 equipped cars too.
