Question Speakers?

Just was looking into rear speaker replacements for my 1988 mustang 5.0 lx hatch. Went to crutchfield and they said both these 5x7 Rockford fosgate punch :http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosga...productDetails

and these 6x8 rockford fosgate punch fit: Rockford Fosgate Punch P1683 6"x8" 3-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com

Obviously I would want to go with the 6x8 because theyre bigger and have more peak power. Would they fit?

Not 100% sure. You gotta be careful bc of the depth. Some of the 2way and 3way speakers are deeper and the grill will not cover them. Crutchfield is pretty reliable. Whatever they say should be fine

That's my issue. They say they're both fine although I don't know which size I should get. I don't want to run into any problems.

+1 on Crutchfield 99.99% being correct. 5x7 and 6x8 are somewhat interchangeable. If all other things are equal I would go with the slightly larger as you MAY have a bit more bass.

Okay I'll just go with the 6x8 then is there a difference between 3way and two way speakers? Also do I need to run new wiring or would my stock wiring be fine?

I would go with 2 way I find the compromises of putting 3 in a small space ain't sound worthy. I just replaced all 4 speakers with Focal's (entry level) the system ain't great but it's now decent (base model). I wouldn't run new wire unless I was replacing the head unit. Hint: Google Crutchfield coupon code

w/o listening I'm sure either pick will be fine. idk on your year but my era speakers are like listening to kazoos. Just put in decent speakers and it'll be a big improvement

I bought rockford fosgate punch for the dash and passenger doors and am going to buy another set for the rear and get a nicer pioneer head unit. How difficult is it to re wire the whole system?

I heard if you rewire it it'll make the sound quality improve. Anyone have a good link for a headunit installation kit and wire adapters for the headunit and adapters for the speakers?

in theory it will sound better but I wouldn't make the effort unless you are really into sound. It's a car don't go for audiophile sound sometimes good is all you need.

Crutchfield will sell you everything you need at a fair price.
