13-14 Shaker 500 questions.

Hey guys. In the upcoming months I have the chance to upgrade from a sixxer to a GT or a GT Premium. I was doing some research on the Shaker 500 and I have a few questions I was hoping someone could help me out with. So I understand that it's 8 speakers. 2 door subs. The speaker/tweeter component in the door and 2 6x8s in the rear. I know it's passive crossovers through it and a crappy factory amp. So is everything ran from the one amp including the mini door subs? I would be able to answer these questions myself but I don't have a Premium that I can take apart. Also speaker sizes have escaped me. I believe it's an 8" sub, 6x8 tweeter/speaker combo and 6x8 in the back. Right? Anything and everything I should know. Let me have it. Thanks in advance!

You are correct. I changed all the stock stuff, except the Shaker 500 radio. Hit me back if you want.

Sweet. Finally I can get direct answers haha. Okay. So what did you have to change out? All speakers? Amp? How did everything have to run out and what all was required.

I changed to Shelby GT speakers, which are actually Kicker speakers, the 6X8 in front doors as well as the 8 " subs in front doors, I went with JL Audio in the rear as well as a 10" Subwoofer in the Trunk. I added two Amps in the Trunk for the Speakers and the box Sub. To do this stuff with the Amps, I needed the shop to get a particular wiring harness to hook all this stuff up to stock radio. I have not changed the Shaker 500 yet because it holds 6 CD, and no other radio does that, I have to buy a new player with a CD changer hooked up to it. To me that Shaker is nice, it does a lot of things, even though a after market Stereo probably sounds 100% better. I would send you some pictures but I have not taken any new ones since the whole thing was hooked up, my camera broke.

Okay so how are the door subs ran? Are they ran to a separate amp? And the normal speakers powered by the head unit?

NO, I got two AMPS in my Trunk. A 5 channel amp, and a single channel sub amp. Hit me up at foristj@yahoo.com.
