Door subs replacement options

Im looking to replace my door subs in my 06 GT with the shaker 500 system. I still have the stock deck and I'm not looking to replace it anytime soon. Prefer something that I don't have to butcher my door up to install. Thanks in advance.

I did the Shelby GT subs, which are Kicker Speakers. They sound and work excellent, they fit right in.

Thanks for the response Kato. Where did you purchase yours from if you don't mind me asking?

Look up the company Shelby GT online. I ordered mine thru them. Stores don't really have them.
the part number for them is (K8) for 8" subwoofer, (KA68) for the 6X8" speakers. Anyway, those speakers are made by "Kicker". Both sound Excellent.

Another happy Kicker door sub user here. Definitely cleaner sounding but as they are single vs. dual voice coil design. This means they loose a little volume. I added the Shelby amp and Kicker subwoofer in the trunk as well

Can you use the original grille (chrome bezel) with the shelby kicker subs? From the photos, it looks like the shelby grilles are removable, but I'm not sure if the subs are designed for the chrome bezel grille...

I installed pioneer TS-sw2002d2's in my stang. They are dual cone thus you can use all available power from existing amps. Since my car is in storage I've only done the passenger side. Initial judgment, same volume as stock but crisper punch. I reused the original grills after drilling out a few holes to match up with pioneers. Thus completely stock looking and protected from footwear.

Nope, the Shelby Kickers protrude from the door further so you must use the Shelby supplied grilles. They are removable but they screw on with four screws as opposed to snapping on.

I'd consider going that way if I had it to do over again...

Can this be done with newer models such as 2011-2014?

I also purchased the Shelby-Kicker door subs. I am not interested in competition level audio, I only wanted something that would be factory form and better audio.

For $150 bucks, it's worth it.
