Door sub wireing Questions

I would love to know why you only use one set of Sub wires.
I convertaed to the Kicker Shelby Subs.
They have tow sets of tabs on the factory sub, but in the instructions they tell you to only use one set..
Why? I think I read it would burn out the amp but I am really not sure.
