SUBS

How do you run subs off of the trunk speakers ??? Heard it was possible! I know I'd have to get the subs and a amp. Anyone know how it all goes together ??

You need to tap the rear speaker wire and use a line level converter and regular amp, or just a line level amp. You'll want something with a built in crossover so you can cut out the high frequencies. My buddy did it that way on his new Dodge Dart it was pretty easy.

No more expensive than a regular sub setup. A line level converter should be around 20-30 bucks.
The key is to make sure you match your amp to your sub's RMS wattage rating.

That's plenty. With that budget I'd grab an alpine type r sub and the box of your choice. And again, match the wattage on the amp with the RMS on the sub (you can go a little higher but avoid being under)

Quite a bit better in my opinion. I'm assuming you're referring to the pre-packaged shelby kicker sub?

If it's from Best Buy then the Alpine will definitely be better. It's what I'm planning on putting in when I have the spare money.

I have a new car, and I need some more bass. The stock shaker system is good, but bass is too low. You said you don't like kicker, any other products you can recommend... Subs & amp products

Nice threadjack :p
Recommendations depend totally on what you want. Do you want a multi sub bass cannon or do you want to just fill in the weak lows?
Box size depends solely on which sub you use.

It's kinda hard for me to hear the difference unless you hear it in person. I want some deep lows, maybe vibrate the mirrors a little more, shake the seat, but not too loud. I got a 600$ budget

I'm a fan of single sub setups because they don't take up your whole trunk and can still push serious bass. Since you're worried about lows I'd go for a single powerful 12". But that's just one opinion. You can't really go wrong with an Alpine Type-R.

Research powerbass subs. Good price, competition quality sound/bass. I got 2 10's in my winter beater and when i pound it, it makes me have to poo haha

I have a 12" infinity kappa coming in Monday. I want a box that fits with the trunk molding either on the right side or up against the seats any suggestions? I've got a 2013.

Also I'm all for building my own box to get a perfect fit. If anyone knows of a site that has a good blueprint that would be appreciated!

All sub manufacturers post recommended box dimensions.
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Mobil...PER12VQ&tp=111

Halfway down is what youre lookin for follow those dimensions and itll sound bomb diggity. Pick whatever size or shape you want just match the cubic feet posted and youre golden.

I want a sub with "clean" lows, if that makes any sense. Something that you can feel and barely hear. Should I go infinity or kicker?

Not to put anyone down but do not research powerbass, boss, lanzar etc, all rebadged chinese speakers that are a ripoff unless you can get it for $1. For $500 I would do the following:

Amplifier: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...I-BK340.2.html

Line out: http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosga.../dp/B001P86SJ8

Amplifier kit: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...y-Scosche.html

Subwoofer: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...pa-120.9W.html

Subwoofer box: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...1-12-GRAY.html

Total comes around $440, with $60 spare and you have yourself a nice quality bass addition to your car. I go to Cypress all the time if you ever need help.

Matt, both Brands are good. Kicker and Sound stream both are used in my Stang. 500 or 600 is not a bad price to work with in the start. Shop around for best price and best work. Workmanship is the most important. I'm not at all sure what prices or skills they have there in Texas, but good luck with it. Don't be soo hooked on Watts. I'm only running a single 10" sealed JL sub in my trunk. Kicker and JL Speakers inside. Sound Stream Rubicon Amp and Memphis Audio Amp.

Lol clearly havent heard powerbass. Im the 2nd owner, theyre 5 years old and i pound them daily. Most reliable sub ive ever had. Not to mention they sound amazing. Ive owned alpines, rockford fosgate, and exile. And so far, none could compare. Maybe you should do some research

Powerbass also got better reviews on the same site you posted.

I know all about powerbass. I have samples of powerbass products in my garage. I am an avid IASCA SQ competitor with several world series wins. I did not mean to insult you by any means. Also I wouldn't consider rockford fosgate, exile, and alpine sq oriented brands. Rockford is coming back slowly but they are actually rebadging seas speakers in the upper end component sets. Seas is a great company but I rather buy directly from Seas then pay 50 dollars more for a rockford badge. Alpine goes up and down. One year they will have a quality product oriented to sq and the next year they will decide to pull it off the market and replace it with something more average joe oriented in order to increase sales since most people don't understand what to look for.

Meh no worries, theyre in my winter/work beater anyways. Would never think abt putting them in my stang (exhaust is music enough for me! Hah) The alpine i had was prob the crappiest sub i owned, 12" of pure kife, futureshop handed me one to replace my discontinued exile under warranty and I hated them for it. Im just a fan of powerbass cuz theyve never given me a problem, theyre crisp, good highs and lows, enough bass to give passengers the "robot voice" and shift internal organs around lmao. Only comparable sub i had was my fosgate p-10 (i think thats the model) friends with subs had asked what 12"s i had when they heard it. (Ran 1 10 in a custom ported box)

You seem to know your stuff tho, im in the market for new speakers. What would you recommend??
