Installed a new touch screen radio

Installed a pioneer avh x1600 dvd touch screen stereo! I recommend all to do this! Completely changed your interior look and makes them feel way less old! Im later installing a back up camera also. Very easy to do for both. Click image for larger version

Lol!! Thats crazy. It really is simple. 5 things needed.
1. Stereo
2.double din dash kit
3.speaker wire harness
4.amp wire harness
5. Bypass cable (to use the full features of the stereo while not parked)

Its just simple color wiring and a few obvious screws here and there

Pick any DOUBLE DIN radio to go with those, I suggest pioneer (best in the world)

Thats all you'll need

I have the same stereo that I wish to install in my car. My father recently passed away and he was the one who always did the work to my car, and I was hoping to do this install on my own. I was wondering how hard this install was and if it would be possible for me to do it..I am capable of doing minor things when it comes to cars simply from being around dad so much. I was wondering if you could give me a quick install run through since I can't find instructions anywhere. I was also wondering how hard this would be since my Mustang has already had a Pioneer stereo in it before(currently).

Bypass cable is not necessary, just ground the wire that's supposed to connect to the hand brake. Just thought i'd throw that out there since i also installed a double din touchscreen radio to my car.

Depends on the type of touch screen. The newest pioneers are more advanced and that doesnt work anymore

I believe I have the avh2600BT model (needed blue tooth and a 8 band eq) and I love it aswell.

The auto eq feature is also very good.

Grab a Bluetooth obd2 transmitter and you can see your gauges, in real time, on your radio. HP/torque and really the only cool gauges to look at though.

You have to use a switch now. If it's grounded when the radio turns on it won't work.

Yes that means you have to pull the parking brake twice to get it to work too.

It's a little tricky on these motors because the alternator post sits under the throttle body, but the rest is pretty straight forward. Engine ground is easier than most.

Oh I guess I just figured you had a 05-09 Mustang like me :O my bad haha

The alternator is very easy to do on the 99-04 mustangs. It's a straight shot to the battery. The ground to chassis, also easy. Just ground the the frame right next to the battery box (make sure to sand the paint down to bare metal though)

To find the motor ground you can actually just follow the wire from the negative battery post down to the bottom of the motor. That's where your motor is grounded too. It's a little tricky to reach, so a good extention will be in order to reach that bolt. 6" should be plenty.

The positive wire from alt to battery doesn't need to be fused as you want all the electricity going from alt to battery as possible. The more the better

Happy hunting

Looks very nice, definitely going to consider installing a double din stereo.
