Installed Backup Camera on '14, or I'm an Idiot...

After getting used to the backup camera on my Wife's Lincoln MKX, I decided I wanted one too. Mainly with the dark tint on the rear window, the louvers on the rear side windows, tinted tail lights, it is hard to see especially at night. So, after a lot of internet searching, I found a backup camera with a wifi module to connect up with my iPhone 6.

I decided to hook it into to the lead for the led surround lights so it would have continuous power, instead of the reverse lead...(didn't think that one through...) Tested great, worked great in the garage. Yeah, once I backed out into the sunlight, the auto lamps kicked off. Guess what happens? The wifi goes out...Yep, I'm an idiot. I didn't think that one through when I was testing the leads for the 12V...Oh well. It does work pretty well. Right now my work around for daylight will be to just turn on the lights. I am planning on putting in a powered subwoofer in the next month or two and I will tap into the 12V lead at that time...

Here is the camera that I bought on Amazon for $99.00...

Do you have navigation?

If so: How to: add a back up camera to stock Navigation Sync unit

Get a Ford technician to enter manually using the following instructions:
IDS main menu > Special Tools > enter '53061'
- This allows the tech to only input as-built data to any module in the car
Programmable Module Installation > select 'ACM'
- Will prompt tech to add as-built data to the ACM
Add the As-Built data you want to flash to your car.

You need to change just the bolded part of that one line of your as-build data.
727-01-01 xxxx 8C29 xxxx (for cars with Back Up Cameras)

No navigation system. Just the Shaker 500 system.

Haha, definitely thread from the dead. If you have a Raxiom system you can look up my thread to see how I used a different camera than what came with the Raxiom kit. I contemplated using a wireless camera, but when it was all said and done, the single wire was easy to run.

Nah I dont have the Raxiom system. I am actually in the process of doing a Tablet Retro Fit and this camera will be perfect for my setup. My 2012 is bare bone base stock. Radio needs to go and the speakers too.

Thanks for the reply though man!
