What speakers are you running thread

Let's hear what aftermarket speakers you guys are running. Maybe it will help other members to get an idea on which ones work best with our stock head unit, or an after market one on our cars.

1) Does your car have Shaker system? If so, 500 or 1000?

2) What brand, and subsequent model of the speaker are you running?

3) Is sound quality a substantial upgrade over stock?

4) how's the bass response?

5) Do you feel they need an amplifier? Are you running an aftermarket equalizer/sound processing unit?

Cheers

Yes, had Shaker 500, Switched Speakers first, then switched Head Unit to Kenwood: DPX500BT -CD,MPS,SAT, Bluetooth.
Shelby GT/Kicker: 8" and 6X8" Speakers in front.
JL Audio: 5X7" and 10" Woofer in Rear.
Audio Control LC8i Crossover.
Sound Stream: Rubicon 5 Ch. AMP.
Memphis Audio: 1000D Mono AMP.
Phoenix Gold 1 Farad Cap.
Sounds nice and the Amps were a Definite Plus.

Nice! Before I traded in my 3.7 for a 5.0, I installed a pair of Polk audio db571s. They were a nice improvement over stock, and sounded excellent on my shaker 500. However I felt I could use some more bass coming from the back.

I guess in 2013 the "Shaker" and "Shaker Pro" are the names for the Shaker 500 and 1000, respectively
1. Mine has the Shaker system (roughly configured like a Shaker 500, door but no trunk sub)
2. Shelby / Kicker all around including the added trunk sub.
3. Yes
4. Tight, clear and "thumpy" like I like it. No muddy rumbling and vibrating. Not insanely loud, so if that's what you want look into something else.
5. Fitted the complementary Shelby / Kicker amplifier. Trunk sub has an additional dedicated amp

Mach 460 system with an aftermarket Pioneer AVH-X4500BT head unit. Sounds good to me, no need to upgrade.

Soccerluvr4, I have a Mach 1000 stock unit and have read about issues getting aftermarket head units to work properly on the Mach 460 and 1000 systems. Did you have to do, or need, anything special to get it working correctly?

The part that most people leave out is the volt converter. Its a 12v to 9v i believe. Without that you will get the issues most people get. I got my unit as a full package from crutch field and it came with everything. I would definitely recommend going with that route instead of just buying a head unit by itself. Sound even got a tiny bit better swapping the head units. Stock speakers and stock amps.

+1 for sonic! Another place for cheap audio is onlinecarsterio.com but I'm not too sure about their reputation, I haven't tried em yet.

I'm running a JL audio C5 mids in the front along with a Cresendo tweeter, this is an active set up. In the rear I have the Alpine SPS-517 5x7 coaxial's.

I tried cross-shopping them too. The closest Kickers that I could find to the Shelby's have a different tweeter construction so I could not find an exact match. Makes me think that the Shelby version Kickers are unique. Having said that, you're probably fine going either way. The Shelby/Kickers measured 2.5 - 2.8 ohms for impedance, testing with my ohmmeter, and those closest Kicker ones I could find were rated at 4 ohms. That will tend to reduce playing volume a little compared to the Shelby versions. If you're planning to add an amp, there should be no concern.

Thats the biggest difference with the Shelby stuff, the ohm rating. I have the subs and one thing that makes them special is that they are 2ohm SVC's.
