I'm found of the Alpines, and the Rockford Fosgate power series. Obviously you want to pair whatever you go with to a high quality 4 channel amp.

2008 Mustang GT with the Shaker 500 option. I was looking at the Pioneer 2 way and the type r 2 way speakers.

Check the ohms of the factory speakers and match that number. You can stress your system if you drop below the ohm level it is designed for. You will find yourself with a lot of problems if you mismatch the load / resistance.

4ohms is what the stock speakers are supposedly. So if I stick with 4 ohms speakers I should be good

The Shelby GT 6X8 which are the Kicker Speakers "KA68". The Cone is a "Long throw" Woofer Cone. They Sound really nice to me and a Perfect fit and replacement.

I wish there was a compatable replacement for the door subs in the 1999-2004 Mustangs with the Mach 460 and 1000 systems. Unfortunately the Mach system was not designed to be upgraded or modified without replacing most, if not all of the stereo system.

Yeah, the Shaker 500 sounds way better than the Mach 460 I had in my opinion.

But my 03 Mach 1000 system sounds so much better than my 07's Shaker 500. Much more bass. It's all about that bass.

jkeaton, compare the Shaker 1000 against the Mach 460 and let me know how that turns out.

That's too bad, I guess it would be like Comparing your GT to your V6.

I'm sure the Shaker 1000 is a far superior sound system to my 14 year old Mach 1000 system. I don't doubt you. I'm pretty satisfied with it though.

XSlashDashX, jkeaton when I started this venture I originally had the Shaker 500 system, many people told me to change the whole thing, I wasn't listening because the Stereo held 5,6 CD's and how can you beat that, so instead I changed Speakers first: Shelby GT front 6X8 and 8" Woofers, the Rear JL Audio 5X7. I liked the Sound of them, then the next step came over me, it was not enough. So next came Amplifiers, which then I discover the Headache that Ford did with their Audio system. Could not find another Stereo that holds CD's so I still held out, but eventually the Stereo needed replacing. Got a Kenwood DPX500BT and the Sound was like night and day. I kinda did it the hard way, but the best thing is to Replace the Entire Stereo System. Also a JL W3 10" Sub in Trunk.

I plan to get a head unit soon and replace both 6x8 speakers with Pioneer series. Then go with the Shelby kickers 8 inch subwoofer replacement for the doors. So far I'm enjoying the Shaker 500 way more then I did with the Mach 460 system. Has much cleaner sound.

I have an 08 GT with the Shaker 500 I swapped out the 6x8 OEM speakers for some Kicker speakers. This improved the sound quite a bit. Then I started using my aux input and the iHeartradio downloaded on my phone and improved the sound even more.

Replacing the OEM speaker units with any of the Pioneer TS-A variants will significantly improve the sound of whatever stereo. Kenwood KFCXXXXPS series are also an improvement but the Pioneers are more efficient (more punch with less wattage) and in most cases less costly.

Finally got around to replace both front and rear speakers in my 08 mustang with the Shaker 500. 6x8 in size obviously and went with Pioneer 2 ways. The sound is 10x better then before even with stock Head Unit. I plan to upgrade to a Pioneer deck soon. Install was a breeze other then the rear. Pretty much had to take every panel off just to get the rear speakers out. Well worth though. 👍🏻
The factory oem speakers was a joke compare to the Pioneer.
