2-way alarm question

Alright, I bought a 2-way alarm off of ebay. The same alarm is for sale here: Alarmacar.net There is very little that this alarm does NOT do...

I get the alarm for much cheaper than it is sold on that page, so I'm excited. Then I get it. It's in a box with GV9 proudly stamped on the top. Apparently I got a no-name brand alarm, but I'm not too surprised by that.

So I open it and look at the instructions. They ARE in English, but only barely. Example: "Never throw heavily you are remote. or to dip into water or expose to heat extreme. We is not responsible for the hitch caused in operation of the unit by these problem." Word for word. But at least it does have a wiring diagram.

I call around, go to some alarm, audio shops here in town, only one guy in my whole city will do it, for $200. This may not be bad for the alarm I'm getting, but I don't have the money, and being the impatient lil sum***** I am, I want the alarm on now.. heh.

My friend wanted to look at it, so I took it to his house, and he hooked the whole damn thing up in his living room, using some PC power cable as the power, and he got it all working, without being on the car, of course. So I'm inclined to believe he knows what he's doing. He also installed his remote start on his Del Sol, which I do know is an import and different from our cars.

Now, the question. Do I let my friend install it for the price of a large pizza, or take it to the professionals when I have $200?

Thanks for reading my huge post and for your input guys.

Any more suggestions? I'm still pretty undecided on the matter, but leaning toward letting my friend do it.

Anybody know if I would need an alarm bypass or anything else special? I do have Ford remote doors, trunk, and panic.

i know it's tempting to let your friend do the install for you, but i must say emphatically DON'T! your vehicle has the Ford P.A.T.S. system in it - this is a factory installed security feature. you need a bypass module which you can find thru DEI (part # 555F). the bypass 'learns' the transponder (the tiny glass encased cylinder in your key's head) code to rebroadcast when you remote start your vehicle. i realize we're discussing a two way alarm system, but the technical nature of the vehicle makes it worthwhile to save some money up to pay for a proper install. it will end up saving you time and money in the end.

if you do decide to install it yourself, or with your friend, you'd have a much easier time if i sent you a sheet which lists all of the wiring colors and locations pertinent to the installation of an alarm.

alright, thanks man. Do you think you could send me that diagram/sheet, just in case? I'm still undecided about it. If we do install it ourselves, itll be sometime next week tho.
Thanks for the help. I'm tellin my friend if he messes it up, he can pay to have it done. So if he's confident enough for that, I'll probably let him do it.

No, the V6 Mustang does not have the PATs system. That is reserved for the Cobras and I think also the GTs.

Uh. I have PATS.

My mom (2000 v6) had PATS. My dad (99 v6) had PATS. My friend Andrea (2000 v6) has PATS.

I think it's just 94-98's that don't have PATS. Because nobody wants to steal those. Ha ha.

well thats all i needed to know. I found some DEI 555Fs on ebay, for around 30 if i remember right. Now my friend wants me to pay him, or mentioned it at least, so if I'm going to end up paying a good bit for this, ill just save a few extra bucks and get it done profesionally. Thanks for yalls help.

What I meant to say was it's just 94-95s that don't have PATS. Because nobody wants to steal those.

OK, so anybody have a wiring diagram I could use or a place I might can find one?

It's been a while, and I still haven't gotten one from x77911. I am going to let my friend do it, and he'll charge me a lot less if I can get a diagram...
