quick stereo question

when a headunit says mp3 compatible, that means i can burn a cd with mp3s in data form (ie, have ~300 songs on a single cd) and put that in my stereo and it will play them all?

also, are there any headunits (i am wanting flipout touch screen headunit anyway) that can read dvd+r's that are filled w/ 4.7gigs of mp3s and read them that way?

Yes. MP3 compatible headunits play CD's burned as data cds in raw .mp3 format. It will preserve your directory structure, but be sure to get one that allows directory browsing and displaying of directory names. Some cheap ones display stuff like "Folder 1", "Folder 2", etc. It's very... non-helpful.

I've never seen an HU that can play MP3s in DVD format. I'm sure it's either in production or out there and really expensive, though.

Yea, my Alpine does that. You gotta do it just right to have the folder names come out right.

I wouldn't count on a DVD Headunit that plays MP3s yet.
