Carpet Install

Im getting my interior done and figure I can prolly save some money. Im getting black carpet, leather seats with blue seude in the middle. I was thinking I can save money on the carpet. They were charging me $250.00 for the carpet and I dont know how much installed yet. I found this carpet

Ford Mustang OEM Carpet Colors

It will be the 2006 black with the mass backing. That carpet should work right? Ive never done anything to the interior before but my Blue lights under the driver and passenger dash and under the back of my driver and passanger seats.. I know I have to take out the seats, the center console and the side parts by the door.. How hard is it to take all that out and instal the carpet? Or should I just pay the money to get it and get it installed? I would think this is pretty easy.. Please help me out..If there are any other sites that people got better carpet please let me know.. THANKS EVERYBODY

Re: Carpet Install

removing the center console is the hardest part. you just have to be careful not to creak anything as it is all plastic. so you can't force it. if you take your time and don't just try to rip it out it's not that hard.

Re: Carpet Install

By looking at that website I would assume it is based by year for different cuts. For a 2000 car I would get carpet from a 94-04 to ensure it fits correctly.

I'll go ahead and help you out and say get precut preformed carpet. The center console isn't that difficult to remove and the seats simply unbolt and you can remove them. If ya need any help just say so.

Well I looked over the car. Guessing its just 2 bolts that are in the bottom of my glove compartment to get that out.. Looks like its gonna be easy. Tomorrow im gonna go out and unbolt that and the seats. Just to get a basic Clue, Im ordering that carpet now from that site. So we shall see. Ill def ask for help if I need it.

Re: Carpet Install

a heat gun (what ever is supposed to be used) as well as leaving it out in the sun to heat up make it much more manageable on installation

Re: Carpet Install

I haven't done much with the 05+ but I agree with hottcobra. The biggest problem will probably be the console, most likely towards the dash it'll get tricky (that is, if the carpet goes up and under where the radio is. Not sure if I remember if part of the center console is attached to the dash).

The center console comes out to replace the radio, so to take it out shouldn't be too complicated, watch for hidden screws. In fact hardest thing might actually be getting the loose console out of the car

I don't know if there is an online article to replace the 05+ radio but if you can find a "how to" on it you should be able to use that as a guide to take out the console.

Other then that it will probably be 4 bolts through the floor for the front seat and most likely a tab, or bolts under the rear seat in the front that will loosen the bottom padding and that can come out. Sills and kick panels usually just pop in and out with clips, but watch for overlaps and hidden screws/clips. The rear interior might give some problem as well, especially on the re-installing, but again I haven't really seen it so I can't say for certain.

Let us know how it comes along!
