Thanks Ill be in touch. Im looking to spend around 800 with tires if thats possible for 18". Ive been reading about offsets and tires rubbing so Im a little intmidated by all this. also would 18's be a bad Idea since I drive to work and u know about NY roads they are pretty bad. I like the 17's but the 18's look sooo much sweeter IMO.

Re: Bronx Rookie

As long as the bolt pattern is 5x4.5 and the backspacing is around 5.9in (151mm) to 6.02in (153mm), you should be fine. The tire size sounds about right to. The biggest issue is the bolt pattern, the 05+ are different, making the wheels tuck in a lot on 99-04's.

I hear ya on the 17's vs 18's. I wanted 18's really bad, but the tire cost pointed me towards 17's.

You shouldn't see any serious rubbing issues with a 17inch tire. Maybe some rubbing at full lock, but that would be about it. I have 245 fronts, and they barely rub at full lock.

Re: Bronx Rookie

The height of the rim isn't what's going to cause you're rubbing unless you're talking about putting taller than stock tires on there. It's the width of the rim and tire you have to worry about it.

Still, you should be able to fit 275's on a 9" rim on a 99-04 without having to worry about rubbing much. It may rub if you turn the wheel to full lock, but that's easy enough to solve: Just don't go to full lock.

The only downside to 18s is the ride may be a little more harsh and tires are crazy expensive. Which has never made sense to me considering they are less rubber than a 17" tire in the same size... :dunno:

Re: Bronx Rookie

on 03 and 04 mustangs they took out a little bit from the frame to clear the 275 wide tires on the 17x9 rims they used on the 03/04 cobra. They still work fine on 99-02 Mustangs but you may rub a tiny bit, its not bad at all.
