Re: hello guys and gals

Depends on the saleen. The newer ones (08s) come in three options: n/a 3 valve (335), S/C (465) and Extreme (620). Both the S/C and the Extreme have the Twin Screw water to air intercooled

I've also heard of the Red Flag, I guess it's a pretty limited production car, though similar to the S/C in hp ratings.

Re: hello guys and gals

Instead of spending the money for the Saleen name you could get an 03/04 cobra. Most dont really know much about them and the price is quite good.

Stock they are 425hp/410tq (factory rated at 390/390 haha) and come with a 4.6L DOHC 32v supercharged (eaton m112 blower) engine and T-56 6 speed transmission and independent rear suspension. They are 20k~ for a good low mileage version. The modability is amazing, you are a pulley swap/tune/exhasut/cai away from 450-500+ rwhp (12-16psi vs 8 psi stock). Generally 600+ rwhp is the safe daily driver limit, some push much more but just saying on average.

Just a thought~ the 4.6L engine and 4 valves per cylinder they have has forged internals and has FAR more modability (not counting the saleen extreme but you WILL pay much more for those). You may know about them already just FYI, some jump into a saleen/roush/etc and realize they made a big mistake when it comes to modability as they share the base 2v (3v 05+) 4.6L engine that maxes out at 400-450rwhp... and it seems most dont have many performance mods (stock supercharger) so they are stuck around 300hp (05+) or worse...

and saleens and roushes etc have GT vin numbers which means... they drop in values like rocks.

Re: hello guys and gals

I almost bought an 05 SS when I was first looking at cars. A girl ordered a yellow one, got cold feet and backed out on it, the dealer was gonna knock a couple grand off since we already bought 3 cars there, but I had a mustang fixation. I think it had eaton supercharged 2L.

I agree with Spector V on the Cobra. IMO the roush/saleens are overrated and overpriced, they're nice looking cars, but for the price, I can buy a GT/Cobra and build it the way I want and still have some cash to spare.

03/04 cobras are for sale everywhere up here in the midwest ~ chicago, milwaukee, minneapolis
$17000-$28000 with really low miles, under 34k. Basically you can get a sick car for a steal, wish I could make it happen right now

Yah, that's about what the yellow one was. I would've gotten it for around 21-22k, but I was looking at a 2000 GT next door for 13,500. I couldn't believe how cheap mustangs were when compared to other cars.

Re: hello guys and gals

the new turbo charged cobalts are nice, a root supercharged car is fun to drive due to the low end power they add.

yea, I love it. I have had it over 3 years and still love it just as much as when I first got it. I only have two power adding modifications though lol... (catback exhasut and air filter). I hope I can make myself up my boost soon lol thats the next step. The sound of the root blower is one of my favorite parts.

Cobalt sounds like fun - ever take it down a track?

People don't expect some cars to be fast... like cobalts... or Regals

That's not bad!

If I'd pulled off a 1.8 60' I would have been right there with you - I lost to a c6 vette that night by one tenth and only 2 MPH

Your more than welcome to stay and hang out anytime. We have plenty of people on here without mustangs. Jeeps, Regals, Rangers, F150s, and plenty of others. This site is dedicated to Mustangs but has plenty of other things going on. Like meets and events that we all tend to attempt to do. Its a great site and almost like a small family on here.

I, myself still need to meet quite a few people.

Re: hello guys and gals

As saleenfiend said, you're more than welcome stick around. Somtimes someone with a different perspective is nice to have around when discussing cars. You've owned mustangs, and now own a cobalt, so you know the differences between the two models.
