Want to make my Mustang faster...

Hello fellow mustang fans. I have just found this site and look forward to learning alot.I have a '99 Mustang coupe V6. Its black with black wheels and mirror window tint. I want to make it faster but I am not sure where to start and what my options are. How does the computer chip help or hurt performance? Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any info

Welcome. Great looking car. I have a 99 too.

First thing I did was a CAI. Then the exhaust went dual from the cats back.

My next projects are a chip, and then I am going to stop. Been modding the exterior and now the engine has 85k. REally took care of it too. Just waiting(secretly wanting) it to blow so I will be forced into a engine (4.6 DOHC) sitting on a crate in a barn not a mile away from me.

But until then I really need to get the car body fixed and repainted.

Welcome to the boards. There are some really kewl and nice people here

Nice to meet you Computer Guy. My engine has 93k on it. Maybe I should wait till it needs new engine before I do mods on it? I can work on exterior also. Ive got quite a few scratches on paint. Ive also gotta try to clean up headlights which are kinda murky lookin'

nah. you can do small mods like exhaust and cai and exterior stuff. just means less to do later. having an engine blow is simply an excuse to build a better one you'll still need exhaust and everything with the new engine, so you might as well do them while you're waiting

I agree. Dual exhaust, etc can be used with the new engine(for the most part).
