First time Mustang owner, 1996 GT Vert

Hey folks,
Just a quick intro....I've recently inherited my mother's 1996 GT 'Vert and my brother and I are working on getting it back into show room condition (or as close as possible) so that we can fulfill our mom's dream of driving it across country. The car is in good shape mechanically, but cosmetically it's pretty rough. The seats, carpet and door panels will need replaced as well as the top. So, I'm sure I'll be picking your brains for some helpfull hints/tips. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

welcome :thumbs2:

Good luck with the resto. There are many places you can get parts for your 96 GT.
Local junk yards are always an option. There are also salvage yards that sell parts off wrecked cars as well such as Prestige Mustang and MPS Salvage.

http://mpsautosalvage.com/sunshop/

Some vendors also sell OEM or reproduction factory parts:

Mustang Parts & Performance - American Muscle

http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/

CJ Pony Parts - Ford Mustang Parts

Minneapolis Ford Dealer - Tousley Ford - New & Used Ford Cars, Trucks, SUVs & Hybrids - Minneapolis Minnesota Dealership - Serving Saint Paul, Stillwater, Hudson, Hastings, White Bear Lake, Anoka

Welcome to the site.

I'll go ahead and tell you it will be well worth the money to pay someone to install a new top for you...one of the few things I refuse to do on my own cars.

Re: First time Mustang owner, 1996 GT Vert

I paid 1700 for my new top install and all...Was gettin it worked on in the shop and someone jumped the fence. Cut a "T" shape about foot by a foot long into it. I know every1 is gona say shoulda had the shop pay for it... My parents didnt want to pursue it because the owner is a good friend... some friend...
