Talking Colorado Stang code name-SonicBlueV6

Hello Everyone,

My name is Danny and I'm joining this forum form snowy Colorado. I have a 2003 Ford Mustang V6 that was my brothers car before he died, so I'm trying to fix it up nice in his honor. Hopefully I'll get all the mods done before spring so I can buy a new set of Saleen 18x9 chrome rims and tires, and take off the studded snow tires. Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Danny

welcome :thumbs2:

Very nice looking SB stang. I'm sure it's very sentimental to you, as is mine since it was a part of many good times I spent with my father before he died - modding, cruises, trips to car shows...

Chrome saleens would look really good on it, follow those up with some lowering springs and CC plates and it'll sit nice.

I can really feel the difference in the throttle response and power since I added the coil pack, plugs and wires, especially driving up in the mountains. I see you got the BBK throttle body and headers. I want to add those same parts to my Mustang, how do you like them?

I thought about doing the lowering springs, but I drive so much in the snow I think I'm gonna keep the stock height. The pic I posted is old, it has different rims now (with studded snows of course) and a Cobra hood. I'm definitely doing the rims this spring, I'm going with 18x9's all the way around, I'm also putting a Roush front bumper and getting it repainted (the same Sonic Blue) since some high school punks scratched it all up last year. I'll post some newer pics when I get a chance.

Re: Colorado Stang code name-SonicBlueV6

i like them, the headers sound pretty good for a v6. it gives my wife a headache, she says its to loud. but then again i have straight pipes. the throttle body i like for 2 reasons. 1 is the looks, it makes the engine bay look cleaner. 2, it revs a little higher and so it gets it into the higher rpms faster. its a little harder to push down on the gas, but with some of the other stuff im planning on doing, itll gain some more hp at the end, especially when i retune it.

Did you feel any power gain after you installed them? According to the guys at BBK they say the 65mm TB should add 8-12 HP and the Shorty Headers should add 10-15 HP. Why do yo think your gas pedal is harder to push? Is the accelerator cable in the same position as stock, or does it need to be adjusted?

Re: Colorado Stang code name-SonicBlueV6

its just a harder flange to push down on than the stock one, the spring is harder. and after a buddy of mine telling me, and looking up info, wait on the tb, that would need to be something done till you get some internal mods done, or ported your upper intake, youll loose performance if you put it on now.

the throttle body will add about 2-3 hp and the headers about 5hp, just being realistic. They just dont do much on the v6 mustangs.

You can lower your car an inch and it wont hurt anything

I've been reading a bunch of comments on AM about the BBK 65mm TB. Everyone is saying then can really feel the power increase.

Re: Colorado Stang code name-SonicBlueV6

unless they have other mods done, you wont feel that much. to really feel it you would need to get some internal mods done. like ported upper and lower intake, redo the heads, and a lot of other stuff. the big problem with getting a bigger tb than what you already have is that the air will hit a small lip that is left over from the intake manifold. wait a little while for the tb, im taking mine off and putting the stock one back on because it robs you of some of your power unless you have some of those mods done.

Right on, we need more Colorado Mustangs around here, I've talked to a few other guys from Colorado on this site but not many. I really like the Flowmaster Super 44, it sounds great. It has a nice deep growl especially over 3000 rpm's, and it's not obnoxiously loud like some others (and it does not sound ricey like Magnaflow). I really felt the power gain when I put it on. I'm putting on some BBK Shorty Headers, that should add about another 10-15 HP (according to BBK) and I've heard that they sound really nice, so hopefully the Flowmaster & BBK combo will make a deeper/louder exhaust note. No video clips yet, but once I get the BBK's on I'll post a clip.
