Red face newbie from LA

hi everyone! my name is Dulsey & I'm 20 yrs old. I'm from South Louisiana. I drive a 2004 Torch Red V6 Coupe. I've owned this car since Oct. 2004. I've always loved Mustangs and when I was surprised by my mom one sunny day with my car I was thrilled. This is the first vehicle I've ever owned. I've done a few exterior & interior mods but nothing huge. All cosmetics so far. Now I've recently acquired a 2000 Dodge Dakota 4X4 with the 5.9L in it, so I can actually have my car parked up at times to work on it. I'm approaching 100k miles on it but everything is still running great =) i'm planning for my next project to be a big one. i'm looking to do an engine & tranny swap. i know it sounds crazy, why not just buy a GT or better, right? well, i like working on cars, and thats one of the ways me & my fiance, Ross spend time together. i was curious to see what swaps would work as far as motor mounts, etc. I would really like to keep my body since it was my very first mustang. i'm not looking to take it to the strip or anything, just make it a little more fun to drive =)

i'll post some pics soon and just wanna say in advance thx to everyone for the helpful tips & info! hoping to learn a lot and meet some new friends!

Re: newbie from LA

welcome :thumbs2:

Sounds like you have quite the plans for the 04. I'd say the best bet for a GT swap is to find a donor car with all the necessary pieces, from the ecu to the gauge cluster.

When the 3.8 in mine decides to give out, I'll probably do something similar. While it may not seem practical, I'll be doing it as a project too since I want to keep the original body - great shape, first car as well.

i will be looking for a donor car in the near future. and no, its not practical. i've had everyone tell me just to buy a GT. but like you, my original body is in great condition, and i know EVERYTHING that this car has been through. and of course the sentimental value of it being my very first Mustang. I don't plan to EVER get rid of my little six-banger =)

&& thx for the warm welcome everyone!

Re: newbie from LA

I must say, I've been on some Mustang forums that were pretty rude to me being a girl with a 6banger. Everyone thought i was there for attention and what not.

I also own a 2000 Dodge Dakota 4X4 with the 5.9 V8 and a 1994 Mitsu Mighty Max that i'm bagging for a show truck. I've been on forums for those trucks for months now but i could never find a Mustang forum that i was comfortable in. just wanted to express my appreciation to this community for making me feel more at home than any other Mustang forum i've been to =)

Our baton rouge stuff is usually at random...however I would like to get some sort of regular program setup for the spring/summer months. We usually start a thread about any gatherings in the regional forum. We also have a roll call thread over there that I use to send out mass PM's to everyone about anything that is upcoming.

Also, we have several V6 guys that hang out with us as well. We are not all high and mighty "you must have a V8". Our group is also not all guys. Many of us have significant others and they are almost always with us for the meets.

Well, it is super short notice, but, we are getting together tomorrow night as an informal thing. A bunch of us are just going to dinner at mellow mushroom around 830. You're more than welcome to come out as well.

Re: newbie from LA

i have pool tournaments on friday nights. thats the only bad thing.. how late do the meets normally last? my tournaments start at 7:30 so i may be able to head out afterwards, but considering its about a 45min drive from my pool tournament i wouldn't want to make a wasted trip...

Re: newbie from LA

We really won't be eating until after 9....but I couldn't say how long it would last.

Usually our meet ups are on a saturday or a sunday...this is just one that came up in a discussion between me an another member a couple nights ago on the patio...so it really is a last minute deal.

With the weather finally starting to return somewhat to normal, I think we will be working on an official get together type of thing in the near future.

Welcome! I've thought about swapping my V6 for a Ford Racing Boss 302. It will be pricey but certainly possible. Good luck with your project!!

That's how my wife and I met. I had the flashy V6 and she had the red GT. We still have a V6 car in the stable...just needs a little (read alot) of work.
