Think I may have just made an impulsive mistake :S

Today I bought a 99 Mustang GT Convertible for $600.00 dollars. The old owner went in the ditch and ripped the oil pan off. Was going to fix it took the engine out and took it to the junkyard dumb, right? Anyways now I have a car that needs an entire engine, and some minor bodywork. Bumper, hood, headlights. I dont have six g's to drop on a crate engine. Am thinking i should have passes this car up... Any tips, suggestions, general opinions....

Agreed on above, OR you could part out the remaining good parts and get all $600 back then salvage the shell for $ - I'll start by saying I want the defroster registers for the side window, and the defroster vent for the windshield

Yah as others have said, you can find 99+ 4.6L 2v's for cheap. MPS Salvage, Prestige Mustang, craiglist, ebay, local salvage yards, all have those engines. The salvage yards sometimes sell the engine/transmission as a package too...My buddy got a quote from Prestige 2 years ago for a 4.6L with the 5spd for $1500.

The only tips I have are:

1: List it for sale as a rolling chassis perfect for a dedicated race car build on sites like racing junk, ebay, craigslist, etc.

2: Start taking the parts off piece by piece, take good pics of each, and list them for sale on sites like ebay and craigslist. be sure to take care when removing them to not break or damage them.

Sorry to hear.I think you've just found your self a new summer Job. If you live at home, your parents may think your crazy and wasted money. Tell them your being entrepreneurial. Did you get anything for the engine? Everyone here is right $600 isn't bad. You should make the cost up in no time. Sell everything that's in working condition, or fixable including the seats, wheels, tires even the top motor and more.. Buy the repair Manual, when your done re-sell it on amazon. Your potential profit is probably at least $300. Oh yeah once you have pitted the car and sold everything from it take it to an auto recycler they should pay you for the metal.
