Back!

Sorry I have been inactive for the last 2 or 3 months. Lots of crazy stuff have been going on in my life:

I bought a house in Potomac, MD, received a promotion at work, got married at a marina on the Chesapeake Bay, and went on a honeymoon to Riveria Maya, Mexico (first time to Mexico).

Still driving the Mazda3 - I'm enjoying the low fuel and insurance costs. Wife is driving a Pontiac G5. Thinking about getting rid of the G5 and getting some type of 4 door (Fusion maybe?) in preparation of an addition to the family.... not yet, but she has baby fever.

I'll probably ride this Mazda 3 until it dies, but I already decided my next car I'm going balls to the walls. I'm already looking up stuff, but I'm thinking something along the lines of Mustang Cobra, BMW 135i or a 335i, Audi S4 or something. The Mazda 3 is nice and all when it comes to a commuter car, but the need for torque and something more than 150hp is driving me nuts.

If you both want kids go for it. Just remember how many Men sacrifice their Mustangs due to children before you know it you'll be the creepy minivan dad.

Re: Back!

Welcome back and congrats on everything.

Just do the smart thing and buy a play toy that's separate from the DD...you'll thank me later.

WB man. I will strongly suggest the fusion. We have a 2010 SEL pretty much fully loaded minus the AWD and the 3.5. It is by far one of the best driving cars i've ever had the pleasure of driving.

As far as your other car situation. I'd go for either the cobra or find a M3. If its going to just be your weekend/fun toy done get an S4 as the parts are super expensive to replace. The bmw is simular when it comes to parts, but you dont need another 4door with you having the mazda and possible fusion. However if its your balls to the wall ride. Definitely go with a cobra.

Re: Back!

I say wait to have kids. I have been married a year and a half and my wife and I aren't even going to start thinking about having kids for another 5 years. I'm just not ready, plus I enjoy just hangin out me and the wife. No kids for us for a while, if we ever get to that point. The lab is enough for now, but otherwise, congrats.

Re: Back!

Yeah, we are waiting. I don't think a week has gone by though with her hinting about it though. I don't think I can do it until we get on better financial ground. I don't know... I don't think I would mind a kid. I think I'd make a pretty good dad. My only concern is that they cost so friggin much.

As for the car situation, don't worry I won't ever go minivan (or truck or suv for that matter). 4 door sedan is as far as I go. As for the other car... yep, that'll be a coupe for sure. I'm hoping on pawning off the 4 door responsibility on her so I can pick up the coupe in the future. Still a bit far off on the coupe, but we are starting to look at 4 doors (since we will most likely buy used when the kid comes - which will most likely be the current cars on the road in 2 or 3 years from now). Fusion is definitely high on my list. She likes everything except the grill. She has her eyes on the Sonata, but we will see about that (I'm placing bets that the test drive will convince her otherwise). Again, probably a year off at least for that.

I wasn't a big fan of the grille at first, but it really grows on you. Also on the sport model they do come color matched now. I also think for is doing/talking about a black chrome grille. however I promise you if you test drive the fusion you wont want anything else. I would avoid the 4cyl though as its a bit under powered. the 3.0 or 3.5 is the best option.

The 2010 Fusion Sport is not available with a color matched grille, its chrome. The monocrhomatic package is available on the SE and SEL Fusion. My local Ford dealer has a black monochrome 6speed manual, its so cool and sinister looking.

That's right. I looked back at the ford website. I just wish they offered a manual in the v6 models. even better if they offered a 6spd manual 3.7 ecoboost with awd in one. Now that would be a badass DD.

I tried ordering a Fusion Sport AWD and when the sales person asked me about options I told him I wanted a 6spd manual. The look on his face was priceless. He told me it wasn't an option (which I knew) and I asked kindly if he would put the order forum in like that anyway. He did and the response back was just as priceless as the salesmen face. It was worth the try though. Oh well Ill wait for the Mondeo/Fusion upgrade with the 2.0 EB and 6spd manual.
