Question Wheel Size

Hello all.
My first time here. I was wondering the width of the 2002 GT. I just need to confirm whether they are 17x8 or 17x8.5. Any help I can get is appreciated.

Re: Wheel Size

the OEM wheels for a 2002 GT are 17x8 and the OEM tire should be a 245/45/17 but you can run a slightly wider tire for better rim lip protection if you wish.

Red face Re: Wheel Size

Thanks for the info. I wanted to put 9'' in the front, but I understand they rub when you turn the wheel all the way, and spacers are not recommended for the front. I love to have 10.5's in the back, but it can be expensive. I'm debating my options as budget is the main thing right now. Thanks again.

Re: Wheel Size

the 03/04 cobras have 17x9 from the factory. What they did was add a rack limiter so you cant turn the wheel all the way (not a huge deal really) and on all 03/04 cars there is a bit of something missing to let the wheel turn more.

Either way you will be FINE with 17x9 with around 6.11 backspacing just dont turn the wheel all the way lol (it just rubs on the front sway bar not a huge issue)

Re: Wheel Size

Would 18"x10" on the rear and 18"x9" on the front be suitable for an '02 GT?

Re: Wheel Size

its all about offset/backspacing. I have 18x9 front 18x10 rear on my car. My opinion though is if the wheel is offered in 18x8 why not... no real reason why not to unless you autox the car, plus tires will be cheaper.

Looks mean with the deepdish rims. I was thinking about going with those.
And I do actually want to autox. The new tires will be in addition to a stiffer suspension.

Re: Wheel Size

welcome

Yah 17x9 bullitts in general will rub slightly at full lock. It's not bad at all...just let off full lock if you hear or feel it rub and you're fine. You get used to allowing yourself enough room to turn when driving.

As said, offset/backspacing is huge for proper fitment and no rubbing with tires.
