Re: 'Nati Fresh

e85 may be the future of the cars i dont know, nobody knows, on a side note I did participate in a autocross event today in the mustang, and placed 3rd in my devision. The car needs a front sway bar and a t-lock as soon as possible.

Re: 'Nati Fresh

First off welcome to the forum. Now on the gears don't waste the money on a 7.5 rear if you plan to put Hp to it, it will not take it (I worked for a diff shop). Now with that go to the 8.8. But if you are bent on keeping the 7.5 rear then use US gear they are the strongest and then to solve the one tire fire use richmonds posi-lock it makes a stock rear like a detroit without ever pulling it out.

Re: 'Nati Fresh

I would go with an 8.8 and try and find one with a gear set up. Theres a guy with a wrecked car who is parting it out. I know someone claimed the rear end but you could give it a try:

Totaled!!!!!

oh an Welcome BTW

Re: 'Nati Fresh

So your saying go with the 8.8 rear end. I dont really plan on doing any type of FI for a while on this car, or at least not untill i am out of college. Is the total car on this forum? Thanks all for the welcomes, and I am glad to hear my title make people thirsty haha.

Re: 'Nati Fresh

What exactly is a richmonds posi-lock, and how does it work. What do you mean you dont have to pull the rear to install it? Thanks again!

Here is a pic, you don't have to take the rearend apart other than taking the spider gears out and replace with the posi-lock.

Re: 'Nati Fresh

So basically, drain the fluids, take the back off, take the spyder out (I assume a spring is in there somewhere?) and then stick that bad boy in? then bolt it all up fill up with fluids and go on with my day? how much does something like that go for?

Re: 'Nati Fresh

It is around $300-400 for the unit but your rearend doesn't have a spring in it. It should have 2 little gears with the pin going through it and 2 axel gears. If your rearend has a sping then it already is a trac-lock and you'll have to buy new clutches for it if you're only spinning one wheel they're only $60-70 for new clutches.

But the lock-rite or posi-lock in my opinion are better that the trac-lock.

Re: 'Nati Fresh

Im not to sure what FIFY means, but it seems very straight forward to install the device. Im a little tired of the 100ft long one wheel marks, I guess the real question now is, should I go with the 8.8 rear end, I do not like the passanger wheel having a mind of its own, and in fact it messed with me hardcore during autocross when I came out of corners and wouldnt go anywhere.

Fixed it For You....

There is more to it than people are claiming on this forum. I'll look for a write up I used when I did my chunk/gear swap recently. It gave you anything you needed to know.

Re: 'Nati Fresh

That would be great thank you! All I know is e85 in the tuner would is considered race gas. All that was needed was more fuel being supplied, and a tune, and the the car would make 2/4 the power on the same boost.

Re: 'Nati Fresh

Cool, I will have to fallow your project then. I am going to the track tonight with the slicks on, I put them on last night and went on a test run and the car spun them ! I guess burning out and heating them up really is a big deal, so I will be sure to get them nice and toasty tonight!!! Wish me luck on breaking into the 14's . (I have never had Micky T's before so im unsure how exactly these guys are, I have always had M&H on all 4 wheels of my talon)

Re: 'Nati Fresh

Heres the results

R/T------------> .948
60'-------------> 2.331
330------------> 6.731
1/8------------> 10.39
MPH-----------> 67.40
1000----------> 13.500
1/4------------> 16.157
MPH-----------> 85.03

Needless to say slow as ****........ How hard again is it to do a V8 swap? Or what all exactly is needed to do a Turbo project? I cant handle how slow it is lol..... Or even this, is there anyone who wants to buy a V6 Mustang???? haha

Chill out grasshopper. You need to work on lowering that 60'. It should net you a little better E.T. Is this your first time? I wouldn't be too upset. Looks like you ran pretty decent.

Re: 'Nati Fresh

Its my first time launching a RWD car, I have always only had FWD or AWD cars. I had the Micky T's on and the were screaming off the line and chirping 2nd. I killed them if I do say so myself in the box but like you said it could be a drive error. My 60' imo suck ***, but there was no way I was getting a better one last night. 2 stock civics beat me, and I dislike that haha. I was hoping for mid 15's but oh well.

You need to practice your launching technique with the Mickey T's then. You shouldn't be getting too much tire spin? Slicks or DRs?
