How to get the sound from 2011 v6 exhaust

So I just got a 2011 v6 mustang I love the car but I just put on flowmaster 40s on the exhaust yes it changed the sound but I'm wanting it alot deeper muscle tone but also alot louder. How would I acheive the sound I'm looking for with out burning too big of a hole in my budget.

Cat deletes will improve the sound some in a louder kind of way. Headers will also do that. However, with being 2 cylinders short, you're not going to get a real deep tone out of the car. Not sure how well the 05+ v6's take to a catless midpipe, but the pre-05's sound good at low rpms and like dog **** above 3500.

I agree with PureVenom. You'll never get that deep V8 growl but you can still get a deep tone exhaust that isn't too "ricey." Magnaflow has a system for the V6 that sounds pretty good IMO. Here's a link: and . Borla also makes a decent system for the V6. There weren't too many good video demos I could find but here's the best one I found: . They're both a little pricey IMO ranging from $550-700 but you have to remember that you're paying for high grade stainless steel and both have lifetime warranties. If you shop around online, you can probably get a good price during sales or using coupon codes.

Re: How to get the sound from 2011 v6 exhaust

welcome

I'd say in your case to achieve a deeper tone and keep it reasonably priced, have an h-pipe installed. Either an off road (without cats) or catted version if emissions standards are checked.

V6's will have a deeper tone at idle and in the low rpms, after ~3000 it gets high pitched, just the way it is. V6's imo sound best when they are mellow, not too loud but still have a noticeable sound without drone.

If you want to spend a little bit more look into some borla axlebacks, those will probably give you a deeper tone and might be louder than the flowmasters.

Thanks guys, I looked into a H pipe but wasn't sure since the 2011 v6 come with x pipe on it. The flowmaster did give it a new sound great sound at idling but like ya said above 3000 rpm sounds like a rice burner. If I was to go with headers what do y'all recommend? I looked at shortys and hooker hearders. I have magnaflow on the 68 which sounds great but I figured there has to be a way to achieve that sound or some way close to the sound. But I looked at borla and like the sound. But do y'all think a FRPP hot rod cam would sound good on the 2011?

Well other than your car not being able to pass emissions, you're also going to void your warranty with Ford. If you're talking about if it will affect your car's performance over the long run, then no it won't.

I'm not to sure if I wanna void the warranty but I'll prolly just start adding more power to it with bolt on parts maybe with more air flow it'll add some of the sound I want

Super 44 flowmasters give the loudest deepest tone that you can get out of flowmasters. Had one on my mazda b4000 with the 4.0L and everybody thought I had a v8 until I revd it up LOL. But at low rpm band you would swear it had a 5.0 in it.

Ok so I finally broke in the flowmasters and for a v6 it sounds great but now I'm looking to add body kit, to change the look. I'm wanting a meaner low to the ground look, if y'all could give me sound good body kit ideas or lowering kit ideas I would really appreciate it. Any website ideas or body kit names will help out alot. I'm looking at the boss 335 series black rims so if that gives a slight help to what I'm looking for. Sleek, low, simple, and mean is what I'm looking for

Is there a certain exhaust by magnaflow you recommend. Yeah and I'm gonna keep my cats, I'm hoping to achieve a louder sound with out burning too big of a hole in my budget

Why would you even think about putting a cam on a brand new car? Especially a v6. You haven't even done bolt-ons yet. And kiss your warranty good bye

Yeah that's true, I do need to keep my warranty just incase, I like how cams sound but they are def not worth voiding warranty and I got one more question for ya bro, can a body kit that is meant for a gt fit the same year model v6? Is it just the fog light location that's keeping it from fitting on a v6?

Yes as long as the bumper is the same year it will fit.

So I'm kinda stuck on this problem, to get a 2011 front bumper to fit on my 2011 v6 do I just need the bumper cover or do I need the grill? So basically all I'm asking is what all do I need to get the front bumper to fit?
