Yeah it is(was). As I said its in the shop at ECS Performance getting an engine swap and a bigger turbo put in. I had let my step-daughter borrow it for a couple weeks over the summer (hold the heckling) because she had showed promise and motivation for getting an education further from highschool, got accepted into a pretty nice school. So what the hell. Well, Subaru's in general, are oil eaters. The boxer motor has by far the best weight balance and power output for an four cylinder engine, but the oil issue is something a Subaru lover should keep a keen eye on. Well a teen isn't going to pay attention to that generally speaking. So she ran it almost completely out of oil a few times. I yelled at her the last time and said no more. The damage was already done. The oil pump failed and on my way to work (1 and 1/2 hour commute each way) the engine started knocking, then I lost power, engine started squealing and clanking...and then the #2 and #4 cylinder rods snapped and pretty much laid waste to everything inside the long block...Heads, turbo, injectors, pistons, crank, everything was destroyed. So I lucked out and picked up a hybrid WRX STi short block with Cosworth pistons and WRX heads for $1000. A friend was trying to get rid of his imported Japanese STi Spec C (VF-22) turbo and a set of 62lb (650cc) injectors, so what the hell my DD now will have 320AWHP compared to the 165AWHP it started out with. So she did me a favor really. She wants to buy it off me and I told her to pack sand and get her own.

Subaru love is equal to the love for the Stang. Both are great cars that I can have fun in all year round.

I would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable DD any model year Subaru. ALL subaru parts are interchangeable!! A friend of mine has a 1998 Subaru Impreza RS that he just swapped from an entire 2007 Subaru WRX STi motor, drivetrain, interior and suspension set up into. Its now a 400 AWHP demon. And I tell you a four wheel burn out scared the ever living SH** out of me. And I've been in plenty of rear wheel drive cars with almost double the HP and is NOTHING compared to be slammed into your seat like what all-wheel drive can do.

Sorry this went off topic but I do the same thing on NASIOC (North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club) about Mustangs

It was pure luck!! You know how hard it is to find a STOCK wrx engine that hasn't bee abused?!?! from August last year to literally two weeks ago I had been searching!! Frustrating is an understatement. The guy I got it off of had hauled the engine out of his STi to do a build on it...gave it up because he got a HUGE refund from his school (tuition over payment) and bought a built Cosworth 2.6L long block...(retail $12k). So he just wanted to get rid of the motor. The motor didn't come mint by any means I had to have the driver's side head rebuilt and new piston rings put in.

And the turbo, that was blind luck that I found out that it was a friend of mine that was trying to dump off his turbo and injectors to pay for his Legacy GT Spec B build.
