Just got our first mustang!

Hey everyone! Just got my girlfriend and myself our first mustang yesterday. It's a 2000 model V6 auto. In great STOCK condition. Looking forward to any suggestions for the best upgrades for these cars.

Mach 1 chin spoiler and grill delete really add to the look...along with a set of smoked headlights. Go to www.americanmuscle.com they have a lot of stuff there.

I like that style thanks! I have never even heard of a grille delete... Looks clean though. Any thoughts on swapping my stock exhaust for a GT take off set of stockers?

I'm not looking for alot of noise really kinda trying to keep it mild just a little rumble. I have a friend who went all out crazy on his (highschool punk) and it sounded terrible and drew alot of unwanted attention to him from the po-po! I am mostly looking for the performance and looks.

Re: Just got our first mustang!

welcome, I recommend a little TLC and upkeep to ensure it stays looking and running good

Wash with Dawn detergent to remove all wax/protection
Clay bar the car fully
Wash with Dawn
Rubbing compound the car or have it buffed to remove feather scratches etc
Wash with Dawn

Proceed with waxing/sealing etc

remove haze from headlights/tail lights/3rd brake light and keep wax on them to protect them

trim restorer (back to black etc)

Hand clean the engine, a little simple green here and there for the tuff stuff, keep liquids off electronics when doing this

clean wheel wells and take rims off clean inside them, clean brakes up as well (simple green sand paper for surface rust etc)

that should get your exterior good to go

For upkeep
coolant, trans fluid, fuel filter, oil, air filter, fuel injector cleaner (seafoam works good), run seafoam through the car (gas, vac, oil (before changeing oil not for a long time etc can read seafoam instructions). Alignment if tires are new to ensure they dont wear out, and other little things.

I knew most of that already and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who loves simple green!!! Makes for a super clean engine bay! But you caught me off guard with waxing the headlights will the heat not affect the wax? I'm going to be putting in hid bulbs soon. The headlights are practically brand new and don't need restoration but pm is always a plus! I have a buffer but where can I find a good rubbing compound for the paint?
