New member with electrical & idle problems

Have a 2001 mustang v6 convertible. My cig lighter plug fuse keeps blowing for no reason & think it's the culprit in my battery drain issue. If I don't drive it for a day or 2 the battery is completely dead & I have to jump it to get it started again. There's absolutely nothing else that could be running the battery down. I don't have any aftermarket electronics in the car at all. When I change the fuse its blown in a day or two. I guess it's a short somewhere. Does anyone know a fix for this ?? Also it idles at like 1900 rpm's when I start it & sometimes after I stop after its warmed up. Not sure what to do about that either & sometimes it idles too low when I start it like at 600 rpm's maybe. Any ideas on this ??

Hey kev.welcome to ME! I would worry about the short first.what I would do is get a Haynes or Chilton with a wiring schematic to help in chasing down the faulty wire/wires.try unplugging what u think the problem is and see if the problem continues.if it does then the part maybe faulty.

Just so u know u may have better results posting in the proper v6 section.those guy may know of common problems, recalls etc.

Hope you like the site and good luck!
