Smile Nice to meet everyone!

Hi everyone! My name is Marissa, 30 years in age, & from Calhoun, Ga. Purchased the 2002 Mustang GT in February. I love all Mustangs but originally wanted one that wasn't highly modded for performance.. just the look & sound which I got! Now, I am looking to do a few extra mods for performance! Really enjoy seeing all the Mustangs in here.. They are all extremely nice! Nice to meet everyone!

Re: Nice to meet everyone!

Thank you very much everyone for the compliments.. its very reassuring for me that I chose the right car! & I was told by many that I wouldn't make a good decision being someone that knows nothing about them! (: I would tell you the mods it does have but I have no idea... All I do know is it was lowered, X pipes, some air intake system, & the Cobra R rims. If there is anything you see that could be changed to make the car better.. I would love to hear it since most of you know the cars well! Thank you all!

Re: Nice to meet everyone!

I would do a black shorty antenna (fairly inexpensive mod) and some nice new chrome exhaust tips to set off your rear end!

Thanks very much! I looked & I could possibly get that done tomorrow but it says online that there are different ones on looks & measurements.. do you recommend a certain one or any of them?

Welcome, I would go to some local car shows and a drag race to learn more about what you may want to modify on your car. People at shows love to talk about their mods and will show you what they look like to help you decide on what you like and can afford.

Do you belong to any groups or anything in the area? I need to find someone that can teach me to short shift really fast... I can drive it normally no problem but when no one is around, I practice trying to do it fast & I always grind the gears.

Thanks! Right now, I'm just looking for something to add to help w/ a race against a old camaro. I agreed to the race w/out doing research first. :/ Oops, lol. I did practice w/ a newer camaro earlier & he smoked me pretty bad so now I'm really unsure of the older camaro.

I would personally go with the black, 14" antenna. I have seen both 8" and 14"; to me the 8" is TOO short and just looks awkward. The 14" is perfect in my eyes. Either is better than the fishpole stock one.
If you go to AmericanMuscle.com you can go through their galleries of customer pictures to see what you like best.

Oh, and welcome

The way it sounds, you just need to practice that shifting more.
You can spend thousands of dollars, endless hours, gallons of blood, sweat, and tears modifying your car to make it faster; but none will be as beneficial as the DRIVER MOD.

If you want more off the line pull get a set of 4.10s the stock I believe 2.73s in your Stang are highway gears

Welcome to Mustang Evo! I have a 2002 GT as well. They're awesome cars! Yours is pretty gorgeous.

However, I regret to inform you that the ls1 and lt1 camaros roast our little 4.6 mod motors stock to stock. Won't be much of a race.

As for the shifting you just get better with time. Everyone grinds gears when they're learning. Don't feel bad!

And unless my eyes deceive me.. Your car has a mild drop! I say that because it doesn't have the traditional 4x4 stance in the front. Haha.

I practiced on the shifting a good bit today. I think I found the problem with it.. It recently got a new clutch which is extremely tight & really hurts your leg if you drive the car a good bit daily.. then you add me being short and at my actual "comfort zone" in the driver seat, it allows me to reach & function the pedals but not all the way to the floor when it comes to the clutch. Now, I can fully put the clutch completely down but altered my comfy seating, lol.

Like that quote, I need something like that on my car so guys will play. They did play all the time but a cop pulled me over for illegal tint so I had to get it redone but now that I have the legal tint, guys wont play. I even passed a black Stang on I-75 & he was making his jump as I come up beside him but then he backed off & let me go way ahead.. That was no fun at all.

The gears are a bit funny.. 1st gear is really short & a pain when racing but then 5th gear sounds really weird like the car should never be in the 5th gear. I will for sure checks into those. Thanks! & your Stang is pretty sharp itself.

Thanks for the compliment, yours is beautiful too.. I have always loved the yellow ones but my area was running short of them I guess, when I purchased mine because I only found one & it looked great but you can tell it hadn't been taken care of the way I wanted. Haha & yes, I learned the hard way on the camaro's but I'm not a sore loser & I knew the new camaro would beat me but.. I figured I would see if I could at least keep him in view but that didn't happen either, haha.. he seriously smoked me. I think I fixed the problems with the shifting.. hopefully!

You lost me on the last part.. I have no idea what that means, lol. Where do you see & what exactly do you see? I know the front plastic piece has got to be replaced because it took about 2 weeks to actually get used to the car being low & I bottomed out really bad on a bridge then I went in too hard at my chiropractors office which had a huge dip in the drive.. but I did take it the following day to be checked & everything checked out okay on it. He did say I will be needing new springs soon which I plan on doing next month due to upgrading the joints on it also. If what your talking about has nothing to do with what I just listed then what will I have to do to fix it?

Thank you very much! I'm way off from a bad *** chic driver haha but Im fun to play with.. I will say I really wouldn't mind becoming a great racer but I plan on putting the car away in the next two years if my plans go through so there wouldn't be any sense but.. do wanna race till then. (:

What I was sayin isn't anything that needs to be fixed! I said it looks like the previous owner may have lowered the car a bit. Which makes it look great and probably ride like poo. Haha. I take that back; ever since I lowered mine the ride quality got way better.

And as for racing chicks.. I never do. I always feel a huge amount of judgment from women drivers because I bet I look like a giant ******nozzle in my bright yellow stang trying to mess with her just because she has a sports car. So my rule of thumb is I don't mess with chicks on the road unless they are begging for it.. Then I'll stomp them.

And when a reply said something about 4.10 gears he wasn't talking about your tranny gears. He meant your rear differential. Stock GTs come with 3.27s which are good for MPG but are very lack-luster for going fast. I upgraded to 4.10s which basically makes 1st gear a joke because even with my drag radial tires I burn out through first gear but 4.10s provide excellent acceleration in all gears and even makes our 5th overdrive gear do something! An easy explanation of differential gears is that the steeper(higher the number) gear provides faster acceleration because it multiplies the work your engine does per joule of energy it produces. Gears are dubbed a certain number due to the amount of rotations the driveshaft makes in relation to one FULL rotation of the rear tire. Since I have 4.10s my driveshaft will rotate 4 and 1/10th times per every one rotation of the back tire.

Haha, okay... Yes, it was lowered by the 2nd previous owner before me. Then the last guy got it.. guess it still rode like crap so he had new tires put on it, wore those tires out in a month.. took the car back & they placed the thing to level the tires out then he put another set of new tires on it. Then, I got the car.. still rides a bit bad so I had it checked out & they said the guy that lowered it only did the springs & that was it. They also said it made my current springs bad because of the guy not replacing the other things.. but, its scheduled to have it all replaced next month.

As for the racing chicks, haha.. I don't judge & I don't beg... its lets get it on time or get on somewhere time. If you were close to my town & we raced... I would say yes, you would give me a very embarrassing spanking but, the good thing about me.. I just suck it up & make myself better. Eventually, I would have to find you & return the favor.. even if I got another spanking & had to start forking out money for each race.. I don't give up, haha. Also, I done watched all your videos.. so you wouldn't be someone I would mess with anyways (at the moment) but would later after I get some more experience & get used to my car & maybe a couple of mods, haha...

As for the gears, I done said I don't know alot about these cars.. I raced a 5.0 when I younger, had a little red sports car w/turbo cams that I raced when I was younger till I ripped the tranny out, & now, I have the GT...If it looks fast, I'm racing it no matter whats been done to it. I am learning though, I was even on here earlier researching & reading other forums to try & sound a little smart when someone asks what mine has, haha.. But, I also want to be able to start seeing for myself what a car is stocked with instead of guessing. The gears you & the others are talking about is something I plan on asking my mechanic about though.. I'm interested! (:
