No Mustang, but...............

I had an '81 for a while, all 4 cylinders of it. And to make matters worse, the motor was a transplant from a Pinto.
I always wanted a 5.0 but never found a decent deal when I was in the market. Now that I'm old, I'm camouflaging my mid-life crisis by going with the Mustang's bigger cousin.
I found a solid, relatively low mile (125K) '89 Lincoln Mk VII LSC 5.0 HO. And this seemed like a good place to lurk, ask a few questions, and generally steal all your secrets. Like everyone, I'm working with an ugly budget, but at least reading is free.
Just so I'm not a total leach, I'll offer some hard earned advice for anyone buying a used car that's more than a few years old. Sometimes when an owner tells you that "everything is factory", it might not be as great as it sounds. In the case of my LSC, it meant that as things broke or just wore out, he never replaced anything.
Factory original.
