New to ME

Hi People...

New to ME but this is my 3rd Mustang and my oldest..!

1st one was a 2006 GT <--- Gone but not forgotten
2nd was a 2009 Shelby GT500 <--- Gone but missed everyday
3rd is my latest "Project" 1990 Mustang GT...<--- Here to stay but with good things waiting to happen...

Traded the GT for the Shelby but found her to hard to live with, The love affair latest 2 years but I had to give her up. Now after living with a F150 Platinum for a couple of years I have found myself with a need for a Mustang... Came across a nice somewhat unmolested Fox that I plan some very tasteful changes on... This may not be the place to mention that I really don't need 500hp to have fun... At least I will not be afraid to drive this one..!!

Welcome! A mustang is a mustang and the power isn't for everyone. If I had more power, I know I'd have a few tickets

Thanks for the welcome Guys...

I must admit I bought this car on a whim, Although I was looking for a fox body the condition of the body work on this car made me buy it .

I didn't look under the hood at purchase knew it was a V8 by the sound...
Since I got it home I have found the following...

Headers
CAI
410 Gears (quite obvious with the revs it took to run on the highway...).
Lowered (didn't notice this as it was sitting on a gravel driveway... ).
Some kind of funky rear suspensions set up... I will post pics after I get my car hoist hooked up.

My list of things to do are:
5 bolt conversions for the axles
Wildwood cross drilled rotors all around
New Corbeau (spelling???) seats
FR500 Wheels shod with Nitto555's
New Gauge Cluster
Clean up missing interior parts...

That's almost enough to get me in the divorce courts...

Woohoo...

Ordered most of my parts...

New gas tank
New in-tank fuel pump
New FR500 wheels with Nitto555's
New front Seats...
Complete 5 lug conversion from SSBC with axles and disc brakes all round.
All my missing interior parts (well maybe... see how it goes..!).

Put the gauge cluster on hold as they aren't returning my calls..!

Once the 4 post hoist arrives it will be full steam ahead..!

Crappy Weekend...

The gas tank swap had to be put on hold as the filler tank grommet that I removed from my old tank was badly split... Need to source a new one... Hopefully in Canada but if all else fails I will contact Summit Racing...

Moved onto the 5 lug conversion and found my nice new FR500's will not fit with the existing spindles (the SSBC conversion uses the original spindles)... Good job I have access to a machine shop to machine the rotors to give me the required clearance..!

Oh well another week will go by while I sort this crap out...

Hope to get it all done next weekend... Maybe the weather may change for the better as well...

Pics...

So the car has passed the provincial safety...
New racing seats are in and are awesome... Needed a few "Mods" but nothing that a hacksaw can't complete...
More things I found with the 5 bolt conversion, which was a complete PITA , here's why...
  • The brake lines that were supplied (some were missing) were the wrong ones for my car...
  • The Moser axles were too long (WTF is with that...??)
  • The rear calipers had to much clearance on the new axles and therefore they hit the calipers (just finished painting the buggers..!) when the brakes were applied.
  • Instructions were absolutely awful and incomplete.
As I have mentioned before, it's a real good job that I have access to a machine shop otherwise I would have been hooped...

Anyways had the windows tinted today and here she is... (well it would be if I could figure out how to post pics). Sorry about the links...
