Loving my Cobra!

My dream car has always been a mustang. My dream finally came true after all these years! I am having a blast in my '99 cobra convertible I'm looking to do some performance work to up the horsepower. Been researching to find out if I can put a stock '04 supercharger on my '99 cobra. Any suggestions? Anybody tried it?

Thanks,
Cobra Girl

Congrats I have a 99 snake as well. No it won't just bolt on. You can start with gears and exhaust first!

I have a cool air intake added. I have read the '96-'98 cobras had B heads and the '99/'00-'04 had C heads. I know I'll have to upgrade fuel line and swap injectors. What else will I need to add a supercharge?

Depends how much boost you want to run. You should be good with a free flowing exhaust and a good fuel setup and all that good stuff. There's a lot of threads on supercharging. Love the cobra btw

Thanks! It was worth the wait!! Sure have missed a 5 speed trying not to wear the tires out too fast lol. As far as power, def want the supercharger! Got some newer GTs that I need to stay ahead of!

I was the only one in drivers Ed who didn't know how to drive an auto lol. Kept reaching for the clutch and shifter! I've really missed a 5 speed. Of course this ones a little different than the 4 cyl I learned on!!

I tried to push the clutch in on my mom's car the other day. Took me a minute before I realized it's an auto lol

Try slamming the brake because you were reaching for the clutch! Lol had to sit on my left leg while i drove for a long time so I wouldn't use it.

I would do that, if my 4cyl wasn't dead lol 8 more payments before I can be done with it. Then something faster! Cause my sister has the mustang while I'm stuck with my moms car -_-

Got this off Facebook

First of all welcome.

Second of all share with your friends. I got this off Facebook this morning that Eibach Springs is offering up free grear to people who use thier springs if you meet the quilification. Requirment listed below. I am not in the area but thought I should share and people should re-post. I got this directly from Eibach Springs so it's real and not one of those waste you time messages.

Eibach Springs

Do you know anyone in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware with an awesome Eibach equipped Mustang? We will be at American Muscle's Mustang Show August 11th outside of Philly and want to highlight one of our fan's Mustangs in our booth. Comment or post a photo and modification list to our wall if you think your Mustang is right for the job! If your car is picked, you will not only get to show off your car in the official Eibach booth, we will make sure you are completely outfitted with Eibach gear.

Please share this post!

Nice ride! I have a 99 yellow cobra vert as well. If you want to open up your cobra buy these.

Cold air intake
4.30 gears
Sct tuner
X pipe exhaust and you have it lit!

Nothing feels better to have the top down and hear the exhaust on a open road. Nice ride hope you enjoy!

Yes it's kinda addicting lol I drive it every other day with top down for the heck of it. As for the gears I learned stick with the 4.30s in this car and it was pretty awesome. Especially when the trans was bad and reverse grind and second popped out. But everyone I've heard said like 4.10s weren't even enough. But I've never drove anything other than 4.30s but I'm sure you'll find its pretty addicting once you start modding lol

I have the issue with reverse a lot and a little with second. Thought it was just me not finding it right. So is the issue the gears or the tranny? I may have some stupid questions every now n then. Love this stuff but learning lots!

Definitely not the 4.30 (or whatever you have gears,) those are in the rear end. It could be bad synchronizers in the tranny or the gears in the tranny being ground for years. Depending on what it is, you may need a rebuilt transmission.

Oo its the synchronizers in the trans. If it starts to pop out than a new trans needs to go in. Make sure you do the 6 speed t-56 swap and change the clutch when the time comes but I wouldn't worry about it too much. As for reverse mine still grinds but best thing to do if your sitting still is to put car in third before you put in reverse. Irk why but for me it doesn't grind when put in reverse

Thanks! It's not real bad yet. I know the clutch may need to be replaced soon. I'll try that fit reverse. My dads old truck was the same way lol. Hadn't thought if putting in a 6 speed! Awesome! I keep getting more and more ideas on here!! Better start me a list lol
