Welcome to ME and congrats on getting your new Mustang.

From those pictures, it appears to have a generic strut tower brace, BBK CAI, dual 12in matte black lemans stripes, Eleanor-styled window louvers, CDC rear deck lid panel, smoked tail light covers, and a dual exhaust conversion.

Great looking car, and welcome. Looks like you're about to crawl under there and look around. About the best way to tell whats been done / what brand exhaust etc.

Yes I will be! How do I tell if it's had a tune done to it?

That's a tough one to do. Your dealer can tell you, but you don't want that!

The dealer didn't know! And why not? I'm just trying to see what all I need to get the most performance out of it. And I want that ghost lope mod 😋

Well they can definitely tell if they hook it up to the right machine and dig deep enough. But that can play against you if you have engine failure or a breakdown that would be under warranty. They may deny your repair under warranty if it's been tuned and can prove the tune being related to the failure

^That's if he has a warranty. That Mustang is 4yrs old with 65K on it.

Now if he's like me and was able to get a new warranty from Ford (1yr/12K warranty), I'd demand Ford check for a tune, if one's present, have them tune it back to stock, then reset my warranty as if I received the car stock with a stock warranty. That way they can't void my warranty from a tune I didn't install.

Yeah no warranty's here so I don't know how to tell. I do know that the neutral/park rev only goes to 4,000 and the top speed limiter is at 118ish so is that tale tale that it's not tuned?

That's a smart assumption, but you still may not know. If I wanted, I could order a tune that's very mild that doesn't touch the rev or speed limiter.

I have a question though. Are programmers and tunes good for 2010's also? What do they program the shifting or what. And would it be better to just have it dyno tuned

Yes.

The general rule of thumb is, if you're stock or close to stock (which I'd say you're close to stock), email tunes are okay and worth your time and money. A dyno tune will almost always be a better option, but not always worth the money compared alternatives (i.e. email tunes). If you're heavily modified, you'll want the precision of a dyno tune.

When I tuned my 4.0 V6 (what you have) it not only woke up the car, but it was a complete night and day difference in throttle response, shifting, even mpg. I'd recommend it as a first mod to any 4.0 liter V6'er.

Thank you for that info! Yeah I get what you're saying, if I'm just running a cai and throttle body then a pre-made tune will be more than good enough for the money. But it wouldn't be so hot if I was running a FI setup. So I buy the programmer, then I can buy tunes? Or it comes with them how does that work
