Over 50

Yea, I'm ancient!
Two grandkids. Not 60 though. anyhow my story is a little different. I haven't had anything since my mid twenties. Prior to that I put together a 64 Nova with a 327, 11:1 pistons cam, fenderwell headers, torquer manifold with 850 holley.
Then I bought a 70 formula 400 hundred with no drive train and put a 350 in it with similar mods and a TH 400 with shift kit and converter. Kept that till college ended (2 yr degree). In between, two kids, back to college, masters degree, kids college.
Oldest bought a 87 trans am in 2001, while in community college so helped him with that. Youngest bought an F150 4 x 4 and we lifted that made some other mods. Live vicariously through helping their many friends hot rod stuff, swap engines, etc.
Also, couple of atv's and dirt bikes got us through the late 90's early 2000's.
Fast forward, couple of years ago, I saw that the 2011 GT's were putting out 400+ hp and even the V6's were up to 300 +, which, if you didn't know this the 68 and 69 Z28's put out 300, so you were getting Z-28 performance out of a V6. So I was toying with the idea of getting a V^ and heavily modifying to get down into the low twelves high 11's (1/4 mile). Last year, my kid spies a 68 Nova, little rough and needed a drivetrain. I'm thinking not a bad project car. Guy wanted 3K. So I'm thinking crate motor fresh 350 T/h some other stuff, paint, maybe mods to put disc brakes on, few other upgrades. Then I start putting number on stuff, I'm thinking, 25 30 k, and it 'll do maybe low 13s. I'm thinking, jeez, the GT will do that with no mods and be reliable, not drive like a POS. So fast forward. I started looking for 2011, 2012's hoping to pick one up for 22-23 k. Found a 2013 auto that had been sitting on the lot for a few months with 20 k on it for 22900, so I jumped on it.
I put the shorty headers on it and a CAI. Gonna wait on a tune until I fully digest what's covered under the 7/70 certified warranty.

I will say the rear glass in my 2012 ragtop is quite large compared to my '95 T/A. Visibility is better in the Mustang.

Welcome to the forum. I just bought my first mustang, a 2014 gt/cs last month. I had several Pontiac Firebirds and a highly nodded Nissan 350z before this. The mustang is way faster, but doesn't handle as good as my 350z did. Overall I love this car.

Thats awesome. I have had a few GMs over the years, but the Ford products have always treated me better, Congrats, and enjoy!
