8 years dormant, finally getting attention

Hey everyone. I bought my ‘06 GT almost 8 years ago and am only just starting to mod! I’ve never had any time to work on it and living in the city with street parking definitely creates a challenge to get things done but I am just so tired of her being stock. I’ve been browsing through the forums for a while now looking for ideas on what I can do and I want to thank everyone for sharing their thoughts, opinions and creations for the world to see – helping guys like me get started.

I hope to bring a perspective of someone who tries to take care of their Stang in a city where crime is frequent (I’ve had my window smashed 4 times here and door pried open once as well as someone keying across my entire hood!) and where door dings and bumper dents from parking are common place. Washing the car traditionally and doing any kind of work is difficult but I’m finding ways to complete tasks.

I have an ’06 Vista Blue GT and am going for the black and blue, stealth look (black and smoked pieces all over with tiny bits of chrome to break it all up). I also love 1st gen Stangs so I will be incorporating a lot of throwback touches to make mine stand out. I’ve only done some cosmetic stuff recently but have a lot of ideas for power and performance – after I hit the dyno for a base.

Thanks again and I look forward to reading and writing more posts.

Are you also like me, having owned yours since it came out or did you recently purchase her?

I got mine in November 2012. So, not exactly the same haha. But I'm getting super into mine as of late. I want to keep mine in great shape, do some mods, and driver her a lot. When I graduate college, I plan to start looking to buy a classic mustang.

I feel ya. I have a '68 Merc right now and am really thinking about getting rid of it for a '69 Sportsroof. The '67 to '69s are what got me into cars in the first place!

Nice! If you don't mind my asking, how do you go about purchasing these classic cars?

Welcome! I've been a member here for a some months now, just got to say I had a short list of mods and when I joined it got bigger haha.

Meantang: there's a lot of ways to find these classics really; craigslist, ebay, etc.
I've found some through those sources and others by just driving around and running into them with a "For Sale" sign. 2 months ago I was heading home when I saw a '65 for sale for 5,000, it had some rust, wasn't running, needed a good job in the interior and other details. For me it was to much for it, even if it was cheaper I wouldn't be able to buy it. Haha. Search through those sources and keep your eyes open you'll end up finding one. Best of luck

I grew up browsing AutoTraders all the time just to look at old cars. The problem with first gen Stangs now are that their popularity grossly exceeded their value. Vic gave a good example. I've seen complete and utter POS's that barely resembled the beauty they once were and were still over 10 grand!

Welcome!

Nice looking stang. Sorry to hear some people can't respect someones pride and joy. They're lucky, if it was me they would've been introduced to my friends 5.56 and 7.62 lol.

Sounds like your stang is long overdue for some mods..I vote exhaust and gears!

Amen to that! Don't forget to post some pics and maybe an exhaust vid.

Basically I just started but 8 years ago I threw on the sequentials almost right away. Now they're built into my Gen 5s. Clearly I thought that was the most needed feature lol.
