Hello, new guy here

Hello all. New to the forum and the Mustang world. Just got my first Mustang, an 02 GT 5Spd vert and have been loving every minute of it.

I have spent a fair amount of time viewing ME over the last couple of months in preparation of my new purchase and there is some great info here. Thanks for opportunity to participate.

It is. Only 36k miles.

Just trying to decide on the mod list. Too many ideas, not enough money stashed away from the wife. lol.

I was thinking the same thing. It already has a Magnaflow cat back exhaust and the first planned mod is to replace the stock shifter with a MGW.

I did bolt on power mods first. I really wish i had gone suspension first though. If i were to do it all over i would do intake, exhaust, tune and suspension. Then i would be set in my v6. I spent too much trying grab ponies from my Essex. Haha

Welcome! And lovely car by the way, the dark interior always looked better than the creamy tan interior. Is that a saleen spoiler?

Thanks Recon. I agree completely about the dark interior. Especially with black paint and rag top.

Thanks Will.

I'm putting together a mod list right now but plan on an MGW shifter first. I planning on some Raxiom smoked lights, a grill delete and chin spoiler to complete the exterior.

Looking at a tune, possible gears (thoroughly confused about 3.27 vs. 3.73 vs 4.10 at this point in time), and suspension.

I seem to have more questions than answers so I may take you up on the offer to reach out. May even try and come up for a visit (I only live 10 minutes from your location)

Thanks

If you want to do appearance upgrades might I suggest the Mach 1 grille delete and the Mach 1 front spoiler. It cleans up the front end and really makes it look good. I looked into getting a 04 gt but it had the tan dash in it. The car is beautiful, white with black graphics dark cloth interior. but the wheels had to go. ID:	172996 didn't buy it because the miles had me concerned (175k) but it doesn't look or drives like it. My Roush has 30k miles and this gt drives better than it. Everything so smooth it's unreal

The While and Black does look sharp. Was going to spend spend some of the Christmas cash on the the grill delete and chin spoiler figuring it would be a simple first mod but AM is out of stock on the combo kit so I need to wait a could of weeks on that one.

Hello, new guy here

You can't really see it but on the rear spoiler the groove is also blacked out if you zoom in on the front picture you can kinda see it. I personally work on the car when he brings to the shop. mods include
upgraded chip
k&n air filter (no cold air)
Short throw shifter
Cat delete
Made from scratch h pipe by yours truly
Flow master mufflers I personally did the exhaust system and perform routine maintenance on the car. I'm either getting this car or a 03 termi anniversary coupe black. Still haven't decided yet. Click image for larger version

That would be a beautiful car to have but my preference would be the 03 Termi.

Hello, new guy here

Agreed now back to your car, mod list details...
And a thought on appearance upgrades: tint windows, head lights, tail lights?

Been sorting through the options and drafting the mod list but it is nowhere near complete yet.

As far as appearance, here is what I am thinking.
1. Grill delete and chin spoiler
2. Raxiom smoked halo headlights
3. Smoked taillights (either Raxiom, tint or VHT Night shades paint) - not sure on this one yet but leaning toward the Raxiom option
4. Window tint

It already has a BBK CAI and a Magnaflow cat Back exhaust.

Looking at:
1. Tune
2. Gears possibly. Been doing a lot of reading in this forum about stock gears vs 3.73 vs 4.10 and not sure about this yet.
3. Suspension - would like to lower the car but I am not sure if I will have clearance issues. Stock was 245/45/17 and I have 275,45,18 which is 2" larger in diameter. I'm concerned about rubbing.
4. Not planning on any superchargers or turbo at this time.

Hello, new guy here

Very good plan.
On tunes don't go to bama there are much better and less expensive tunes out there. Vmp has some good tunes.
Gears 4.10 would be good for street racing but the 3.73 gears are better on gas.
Lowering very inexpensive way to lower your car is try cutting one loop out the spring it lowers the car and looks go but some lowering kits are very expensive ($350) in case you don't want to risk it rubbing.
If you want to keep it N/A then heres a good set up...
01 bullitt intake (better air flow than stock intake)
Injectors mild or extreme you pick
Mild cam
Headers (long tubes are better set up)
You can do a cat delete it won't harm the drive ability and improves exhaust flow make sure you cut holes in pipe for O2 sensors or you'll have a check engine light on
Always recommend a brake upgrade
Puts some radials on the back and you got a mean machine
(This was my intentions for the white mustang power out put around 380-400 hp)
For force induction bullitt intake is recommended for turbos and centrifugal super chargers it can handle boost better than stock intake. Roots style superchargers should have an intake kit. That engine can only handle around 420-450hp on stock internals any higher the internals with need to be upgraded or the engine with be running on borrowed time

Thanks

Haha , don't we all! No problem at all man. That's what I'm here for!

Feel free to let me know and I would be happy to give you a tour. I'm just a PM away

Your mod list sounds like a great start. When you get a second, check out the Front End Appearance Package which includes smoked headlights, grille delete, chin spoiler and 8" antenna and is an absolute awesome bang for your buck and I recommend it to anyone that just got their hands on a new edge.

In regards to gears. I am a firm believer in 3.73's and run them personally. They are an excellent happy medium. They give you plenty of bite down low but can still cruise down the highway when needed. Perfect!

Next on your list is probably the most important... TUNERS !

Definitely go with a tune, it will really wake the car up and you will love it.

The Bama Performance team really has these cars dialed in. Especially after the introduction of their new lead calibrator! It seems like all that they have been doing is breaking records!

I personally run the Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner and absolutely love it. I run it on my 2014 Track Pack GT but have also ran it on my 2004 GT when I still had her (I always loved New Edges) and It did not disappoint on either car. Make sure to check out the video on the product page, it is extremely informative.

Let me know if you have any questions man! I'm always here.

That we are. Sorry about that!

Luckily, we do have a batch coming in within the next few weeks and you will be able to get your hands on one! Hang tight!
