Hello from Detroit

First time Mustang/domestic owner here...where to begin?

When I was 5, my grandpa took me "Dukes of Hazarding" in his '66 Coupe. From that point forward I loved cars and especially Mustangs.

I grew up in the Nissan plant in TN (dad is an engineer), and I worked there as a tester through high school. After a few years of Nissan only, this winter I decided to pick up a Honda for a winter beater. Then I came across a dream come true...

2011 Ford Mustang V6 Base Automatic
1 owner (former lease)
52,000 miles
Certified used (7yr/100K)
$12,000 until I negotiated a bit. $10,000 w/tax, title, plate transfer.

Bye bye rusty Honda!

Previous Cars:
- 1992 Nissan Hardbody Pickup (VG30E)
- 1996 Honda Civic DX (D16Y7)
- 1992 Acura Integra LS (LS/VTEC)
- 1996 Acura Integra GS-R (B18C1)
- 1994 Nissan 300ZX (VG30DETT)
- A long list of Nissan leases

Current Cars:
- 2015 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X (VQ40DE)
- 2011 Ford Mustang V6 Base Automatic

The Frontier is staying stock minus the Nismo intake. Once the warranty expires I'll consider heavy modification.

The Mustang will be a mild build. My focus in primarily getting the most out of the V6 with a tune and bolt-ons. The suspension and drivetrain will get a little more modification. The goal being weight reduction and improved handling. The guy's at Horsepower Techs are helping me with this build, and I'm sure they will pester me to supercharge it. We'll see...

Random Facts:
Disabled veteran (Army)
Michigan State University alumni
Oakland University graduate student
Owner of a three-legged cat and a greyhound

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Michigander and Mustang/Nissan fan (we have an Armada and a Maxima). There are several others here from the Detroit area who I'm sure will chime in too! Sounds like you got a nice deal on a clean Mustang, feel free to share some pics.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm sure if there's a Detroit get together I'll be able to make it. Would like to take a look at what others have done. May give me new ideas. Ever have any questions or concerns about your Nissan's, let me know.

Just the one butt shot. My favorite part of walking out the front door every morning. The Z32 was a monster. Also a small nightmare. Nothing like having a car that was built around an engine. Sold it to pay for my final semester of school (at the time).
