Hey everyone

My names javier and ive been liking mustangs since I was a little kid, about 6 months ago I got the car of my dreams, and let me just say, it has been one of the best choices of my life. She drives amazing for a V6, she is pretty quick, been saving up a bit of money and thinking about what mods to do, so any suggestions would be appreciated. Sadly i cant find any pics of her since i got a new phone but will post soon. Thank you all.

Welcome to a great and friendly forum, and yes the newer V6's have more horsepower than the V8's used to -- great engines!
When you ask about mods, are you more concerned with acceleration or handling? If you could be more specific as to what your goals are with your car, the members here could be more helpful.

I'm looking for acceleration, for acceleration it lacks and want to work on that for now. I posted a thread earlier asking about a good combo with some roush axle backs I've seen, on american muscle.

An exhaust is going to SOUND better, but for bang for your buck in the acceleration department, your money can be better spent elsewhere.
Look into the V6 section here and do a search on "tunes". Depending on your budget, a supercharger is going to give you lots of performance, but they are expensive.

I have a older v6 and mods have generally a similar impact. But the main things I would look for if you want it to eventually be fast just a few things. Split port upper intake manifold, splitport lower manifold, shorty exhaust headers if your lookin for a good sound start to stop acceleration than that's where I'd start, along with a cold air intake with a knN air filter. And that is air good base. Next would be throttle body plenum and injectors. Maybe suffrage connectors at that point. But it's a fun project. Have fun man.

Javier, for acceleration improvements you want new gears if you have a manual look on the rear end or on the drivers door for gear codes. The 2.73's are standard (and are sloooooow) the 3.31's were a well worth it option.

Very true gears are definatly the best way to up stock performance, if it's an auto trans, or even not I'd go with 3.73 gearing. But for actual performance mods I'd start with cold air intake, filter, exhaust(on the v6), splitport swap, throttle body, plenum, then cams and rockers and maybe even cylinder heads. Also you could even make it a 4.3 stroker. I'm not sure if they still use a similar block in the new ones but the older ones, like my 3.8 you can bore out or even just get different crank cause that's literally the difference in this case between the 3.8, 4.2 blocks. The crank not even the block itself is what pulls each piston out further to give that extra volume inside the cylinder. But it's pretty strenuous, however the outcome if dedicated is worth it.

hey welcome to the forum, I've got the same year as you was in the same place just ordered my 3.73 gears and a tuner can't wait to see how it runs afterwards. BTW you have an auto or stick?
